We visited the house and spent many long hours chatting with Muriel. Situated along the water's edge, the villa is an architectural marvel built in 1906. The place is exclusively reserved for couples unaccompanied by children or pets to ensure peace and quiet. If you arrive in the evening, the atmosphere outside is magical. You are welcomed by Muriel and Bernard.
The interior decoration is neat and very refined with refined fabrics, unusual objects found, rare paintings, incense sticks and the kind of things one likes to find in a house. There are 3 rooms, each named after a Belgian personality of the 19th century: Anna Boch, impressionist painter, Félicien Rops, painter and draftsman, and Alphonse Balat, favorite architect of Leopold II.
The 3 bedrooms are magnificent, each with its own style. Depending on your choice, you'll enjoy the following amenities: top-of-the-range bedding from Hastens (one of the best bedding brands in the world) with Belgian linen sheets, private bathroom, ceramic walk-in shower, island bathtub, welcome products from Nez Zen and Savonneries Bruxelloises, private terrace and magnificent rooftop winter garden.
Outside, take a leisurely stroll through the romantic shabby garden with its many varieties of flowers and 19th century fountain. It's like being in another era...
When it's raining or snowing outside, you've got everything you need to keep you busy: plaids, umbrellas, candles, board games, Smart TV, Netflix with the la Villa Balat account and a library with several hundred books and comics.
In the morning, breakfast is served between 8 and 10 a.m. in the majestic dining room, with its crackling fireplace and view of the river. You're so close to the water you feel like you're on a boat! On the menu: bread, viennoiseries, homemade jams, strawberry juice from the Musée de la Fraise, local cheeses, charcuterie, fresh eggs from the garden, fruit salad and homemade jams. The choice is royal and it's delicious.
The villa is situated in an exceptional location: between the bridge of Jambes and the bridge of the Ardennes with a direct view on the Walloon parliament and the citadel. The historical center is at a few minutes walking distance. You can park your car in the Mazy and Champêtre streets. Don't miss the cable car that connects the city center and the top of the citadel.
