We had the opportunity to visit the hotel and have a drink in the library bar... My god! The atmosphere is as enchanting as it gets. It's sublime. The mocktails are excellent. The signature "Noisette" cocktail is OK but not exceptional. We preferred the more original "Pamplemousse". The prices are still high, but the atmosphere is clearly unique.

In its early life, the hotel was home to the Fondation Thiers, a French institution created in 1892 to assist the early careers of promising young students. In the 1980s, the building became home to the Saint James Club, in the tradition of London circles. Today, it remains a club, welcoming discerning couples from all over the world.

The hotel offers 22 rooms and 26 majestic and particularly bright suites. Each room/suite has been designed as a guest room in the home of an aesthetic collector.

Every room tells a story, with many treasures brought back from distant travels. Discover an art deco spirit, geometric motifs with 18th-century flowers, velvety textures, Versailles parquet and a few antique details. It's sumptuous, extremely romantic, subtle and very pleasant.

Chef Julien Dumas invites you to discover a sensational cuisine with a strong taste for vegetables and seafood. He succeeds in creating unforgettable emotions with the simplest products, as well as the most prestigious: grilled white asparagus, acacia and smoked sardines, lobster and cuttlefish or veal shoulder confit with nasturtium leaves.

On sunny days, you can dine in the garden with its extraordinary pergola. Don't forget to explore the rest of the garden, a true bucolic paradise. Behind the monumental entrance gates, a long, old-fashioned gravel driveway leads to the main courtyard and around the sculptural fountain.

In the evening, enjoy a romantic drink in the library bar, in a subdued and intimate setting. The old leather-bound books, the spiral staircase, the venerable coffered ceiling of the former student library of the Thiers Foundation and the typically British cosy atmosphere: everything is still there and has survived the years.

The large bar stands out against a backdrop of lush greenery, and prints blend gracefully, from thick Iranian patterned rugs to Indian paisleys.
