On-site arrival

As soon as you arrive, it's hard not to fall under its spell. The 17thᵉ century mill, completely renovated, has retained all its old-world charm. From its past remains the large paddle wheel, which still turns today.

The owners, Fatima and Christophe, are welcoming and attentive. So pleasant. Many establishments have lost this habit of welcoming without reserve, with a love of the job that is naturally passed on to the whole team.

The 17 rooms

There are 17 cozy rooms, ranging from 17 to 44 m². One of them is equipped for people with reduced mobility. Here are the categories:

Depending on the room you choose, you will enjoy the following amenities: queen or king size bed, balcony overlooking the vast wooded park, table and chairs, bathroom with shower, complimentary toiletries (shower gel, soap, shampoo), towels, hairdryer, Smart TV, and reversible air conditioning.

Life in the hotel

During the summer months (May to October), take advantage of the sublime outdoor swimming pool in the heart of the park. Lined with deckchairs and parasols, it's the ideal place to soak up the sun.

A little further on, under a wooden gazebo, the jacuzzi awaits you for a moment of relaxation for two. We recommend booking your slot in advance. You can also book a moment for two in the sauna, as well as various massages provided by Moulin de Mitou's partner, Lasco Spa in Montignac.

Open Thursday through Tuesday evenings, as well as Sunday lunchtime and evenings, this restaurant is a must-visit. Magnificent vaulted stone dining room. In the kitchen, Christophe offers refined, seasonal dishes. Some examples: semi-cooked duck foie gras, seared scallops and butternut squash cream, sea bass fillet in a lemon confit crust or sheep's milk cheese and black cherry jam. Yum!

Our tip: as with the spa, book your dinners at the restaurant in advance and ask for a quiet table with a view.

Every morning, from 7.30am to 10am, breakfast is served as a buffet. On the menu: freshly baked breads, crisp pastries, yoghurts and beehive honey available on the frame.

A cozy retreat in the Périgord

Le Moulin de Mitou is in south-west France, between Limoges, Bordeaux and Toulouse, in a rich natural region known as the Périgord Noir. Bordeaux is only 2 hours away by car.

Just a 10-minute drive away, don't miss the Grotte de Lascaux, a pure jewel of prehistory. Discovered by chance in 1940, the cave has revolutionized our understanding of prehistoric art.

The original Lascaux Cave and Lascaux IV, its immersive replica open to the public, are only about 3 km apart. In just a few minutes, you can go from the historic site, which is closed to visitors, to a spectacular reproduction. A magnificent reconstruction with paintings that are more realistic than the real thing!
