Babel Lille is a 4-star hotel located in the heart of Lille, in northern France, a 5-minute walk from the Grand-Place and the city’s two main train stations. Since it’s very close to the Belgian border, we’ve included it in this area as well! It’s the perfect spot for a getaway to this vibrant, colorful city, which has so much to offer to those who know where to look.
Note: The hotel opens on June 29, 2026, and you can book your stay now.

Our experience with Babel
First of all, we had the opportunity to spend a wonderful night at the Babel Bellevile in Paris, which is the sister hotel of the Babel Lille.
It's a cosmopolitan place, beautifully decorated, with influences ranging from China and Afghanistan to India and Turkey.
Our favorites: the picturesque atmosphere, directly inspired by the legendary Silk Road; the fresh food at the restaurant; the truly sensational room (even if it was small); and the very unique elevator...
Since our stay in Paris, we've stayed in constant touch with the very friendly Marine, who is part of the Babel team.
Through a responsible approach, Babel is committed to minimizing its environmental impact by prioritizing homemade, local, and seasonal products, as well as sustainable production.
As a bit of background, this new location in Lille is the result of the joint acquisition of two adjacent hotels: the Hôtel de l’Univers and the Hôtel des Reignaux.
The Rooms at Babel Lille
There are 71 rooms, including one apartment.
They take shape as they go, much like journeys, materials, and encounters. They evoke the stops along the way of a traveler returning from the northern ports: the colors of spices and raw linen, deep velvets, weathered brass, antique tiles, wood, and earthenware.
Each room tells its own story, like a contemporary cabinet of curiosities revealing its unique features and details.
Here are our favorites:
1 • Classic Room • Photo • Photo
2 • Cosy Room • Photo • Photo
3 • Superior Room • Photo • Photo
4 • Apartment • Photo • Photo
Depending on the room you choose, you’ll enjoy the following amenities: high-quality bedding, a bathroom with a shower, natural bath products, a hairdryer, a sitting area, coffee and tea, air conditioning, soundproofing, and complete darkness for a restful night’s sleep.
Life in the hotel
Early in the morning, breakfast is served on the terrace (weather permitting) or in the restaurant. It is served as a buffet featuring local, sustainably sourced products.
On the menu: bread and pastries from the nearby Lesage bakery, jams from Happy Farm, pancakes, granola and chia, homemade pudding, coffee roasted just a few blocks away, and the must-try “Tarte au Suc’,” as the Ch’tis say!
During the day and in the evening, stop by the cozy bar. It’s the lively heart of the hotel. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., take advantage of the calm and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a cup of freshly roasted coffee. And from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., come and enjoy a local beer or a cocktail with flavors from around the world.

In the heart of Old Lille
Babel Lille is located on a shopping street in the Lille Centre district, just a stone's throw from Old Lille. The Grand-Place is only a 5-minute walk away.
The hotel does not have its own parking lot, but there is a parking lot on Boulevard Carnot (Eiffia Lille Opera) about 300 meters away.
We worked in Lille (at Now Coworking) for several months a few years ago, and we have wonderful memories of the whole city and its energy. The sense of humor there is very similar to the Belgian sense of humor.
We highly recommend taking a stroll through Old Lille at dusk, when the lighting casts a magical glow over the 17th-century Flemish-style facades.
At the heart of the Vieille Bourse, one of the city’s most beautiful monuments, lies an inner courtyard where booksellers and chess players gather. Tradition has it that lovers hide there beneath the carved arcades to exchange a kiss out of sight, surrounded by the 24 identical houses that make up this Flemish cloister.
