Gîte Léone a wonderful wellness retreat tucked away in Harzé, Wallonia, Belgium. Liège is about a 30-minute drive away. You can book the suite for an overnight Voor een break overdag or Voor een break overdag . Discover a true hidden paradise featuring a heated indoor pool, an XXL hot tub, and a sauna. Reservation

Check availability on the suite’s official website (external link) and then submit a reservation request. The owner (Cyril) often responds immediately, or within a few hours. Rates start at €300 per night and €200 for 2.5 hours during the day. A discount applies if you stay at least 2 nights.

Our experience

We had the opportunity to visit the suite and take the photos above. What we liked best: the feeling of being alone in the world, the mineral decor, the beauty of the sauna, the quality of the wellness facilities, the extremely pleasant pool and the value for money.

It took Cyril a year of hard work to build the Leone Lodge with his own hands. A true craftsman in the old-fashioned sense! We are in constant contact with him to ensure that the on-site experience is always top notch.

The Wellness Suite

Upon entering the suite, you will discover the following amenities: 70m² of space, a bedroom with a king-size bed, a wellness area separated by a glass wall (which greatly reduces noise between the wellness area and the bedroom, which is great), an XXL jacuzzi, an indoor pool heated to 28°C, a sauna, a walk-in shower, a fully equipped kitchenette, and a Nespresso coffee machine.

An anecdote: the wall along the pool is made of slate. It comes from the only slate quarry still in operation in Belgium. Cyril went to pick it up himself. This creates a real sense of well-being throughout your stay. It is beautiful, aesthetic, and very durable.

Here are a few tips for the hot tub:

1. Don't forget to put the protection back on after use (to keep the water warm and reduce noise).
2. If you wish to use the jacuzzi several times during your stay, leave it in STANDARD mode.
3. Switch to ECO mode if you intend to use the jacuzzi only once (it will be quieter but the water will not be kept hot for later).
4. Press the blower button for the bubbles and the light button to change the light color.
5. The other buttons can be ignored

Dining options

In the morning, breakfast can be delivered for €30 for two people. The menu includes: 2 croissants, 2 pains au chocolat, 2 yogurts, 1 juice, and 2 coffee pods.

There's also a €60 brunch option that includes, in addition to the classic breakfast: 4 eggs, pistolets, some fruit, and a selection of cheeses and cold cuts. Reservations can be made via WhatsApp through this page (external link) on our partner's official website.

We have a great idea for tonight: there’s a Food Box-Lindt (external link) just a 5-minute drive away. It’s like a vending machine, except it dispenses catered meals. Here’s a photo (image). Everything is fresh, high-quality, and homemade. We’ve tried it three or four times already, and it’s always delicious! Plus, it’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The menu includes marinated scampi, breaded chicken, teriyaki salmon, and bacon quiche. It costs about €20 per person, and they even have desserts. Payment is accepted by credit card.

Between Durbuy and Spa

Gîte Léone located in a small, quiet village, a 25-minute drive from Durbuy and Spa, in the province of Liège.

Not far from there, we had the chance to explore the Charmille du Haut Marêt (pictured), and we fell in love with it right away. It’s a walking trail about 600 meters long, covered with branches that form a true canopy of foliage. It’s a magnificent place in every season, and it’s also the longest trail of its kind in Europe.

Another idea

Gîte Leone is located near la Suite Céleste (internal link), and the two places are almost identical. Which one should you choose? Gîte Léone has a stone-themed decor that we like just a little better and a more impressive sauna. But we prefer the bed at la Suite Céleste (more space around it), and its sauna is more powerful. La Suite Céleste is also newer. But don’t worry—the experience is very similar! These are really just minor details.
