This neoclassical mansion would have been the residence of the Spanish ambassador in the 17th century, hence the name of the hotel. But, like the Grand Place, the building was rebuilt after the demolition of the center of Brussels by French cannons on the orders of Louis XIV in 1695. The frame and the majestic main staircase date from this period.

There are 37 rooms in total, divided into 3 parts: Classic, Patio and Garden. Each room is named after a Belgian painter and has a unique interior decoration. The major works of each painter are faithfully reproduced. The rooms in the Patio and Garden sections are more contemporary, yet still refined and elegant.
