Provence is ideal for its villages and landscapes, the French Riviera for the Mediterranean, and the Luberon for a more peaceful atmosphere. If this is your first trip as a couple to the South of France, don’t feel like you have to see everything. At Let’s Go My Love, we prefer to choose a beautiful region and really take the time to enjoy it.
The Luberon and the Alpilles are two excellent places to stay. You’ll be surrounded by beautiful villages, markets, vineyards, and small roads that are perfect for taking spontaneous detours. Gordes, Lourmarin, and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence are very romantic, but staying a little off the beaten path often allows you to find more unique and peaceful spots.
Choose the Mediterranean if you’re picturing a vacation spent among coves, terraces, and waterfront walks. Opt for the Provençal countryside if you’re looking for villages, olive groves, and long, peaceful evenings. For a first trip, combining a few nights inland with one or two nights by the sea works particularly well.
For Provence, the Luberon, and the small villages, a car is really convenient and gives you much more freedom. It’s less essential on the French Riviera, where several cities are well-connected by train. However, if you’re dreaming of unique accommodations tucked away in the vineyards or in the middle of nowhere, be sure to bring a car.
A small, charming hotel, a country house with a pool, or a room in a beautiful village makes it easy to explore the region. During our visits for Let's Go My Love, we also love accommodations with a memorable touch: an exceptional view, a hidden terrace, a private hot tub, or a unique location surrounded by vineyards.
Even five to seven days are enough to enjoy the trip without rushing. Choose one or two base locations and explore the surrounding area at a leisurely pace rather than changing hotels every night. For a shorter stay, three nights in the Luberon, the Alpilles, or on the French Riviera can already offer a wonderful first romantic getaway.
