La Villa Douce one of the most beautiful 4-star hotels in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. It is located on the hills above Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer, a picturesque village in the Var region, just 2 km from the beach. The view of the Îles d’Or (Porquerolles, Port-Cros, and Le Levant) is unforgettable. Watch this video to get a feel for the atmosphere.

A hotel open year-round
Unlike many establishments in the region that close for the winter, the hotel is closed only from mid-November to mid-January, offering a different atmosphere with each season—from the warmth of summer to the soothing sounds of winter.
The service there is top-notch: the entire team is warm, professional, and attentive. It’s upscale, without being over the top or flashy.
The hotel has only 31 rooms, including 14 suites. All of them feature either a balcony or a terrace, each offering a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean Sea. Here are our favorite room categories:
1 • Standard Room • Photo • Photo
2 • Superior Room • Photo • Photo
3 • Junior Suite • Photo • Photo
4 • Junior Suite with Terrace • Photo • Photo
Depending on the room type, you’ll enjoy the following amenities: a room size ranging from 20 m² to 70 m²; a queen- or king-size bed with a high-quality mattress (depending on the room category); a private south-facing balcony or terrace with a 180° panoramic view of the sea; a walk-in shower; and Rituals bath products.
Our tip: Ask for a room on an upper floor to enjoy more privacy.
Dining options
After a restful night's sleep, a delicious breakfast buffet awaits you at Club Papillon, overlooking the sea. On the menu: fresh fruit, cakes, bread, pastries, jams, cereal and granola, fresh fruit juice, and eggs.
For your meals, take a seat on the panoramic terrace at L'Envol, between the pool and the sea. In the summer, try, for example, a delicious Mediterranean blue crab with rémoulade sauce or a Provençal vegetable tian. A real treat! Note: The menu changes throughout the season. Watch this video to get a glimpse of the atmosphere.
Finally, for a drink and some tapas in a cozy setting, head to the lounge bar. The house cocktail? Chambord liqueur, homemade yuzu syrup, and Prosecco.
The Pool and Wellness Area
Turquoise, surrounded by palm trees, and best of all, facing the sea, the pool is one of the hotel’s greatest assets. It is heated to 26 degrees from mid-April through November, weather permitting, of course. It’s pleasant all day long, but the most beautiful moment is probably the sunset over the islands on the horizon.
To extend this moment of relaxation, the hotel's wellness center offers a variety of personalized treatments and massages.
Facing the beaches of Le Rayol
La Villa Douce located in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, which is home to small coves in unspoiled settings where it’s lovely to relax. Le Rayol alone has five fine-sand beaches: Rayol Beach, Canadel Beach, Pramousquier Beach, Pointe du Figuier, and Anse du Petit Port.
The free shuttle service available to take you to the beach below is a real bonus. Be sure to ask about it when you check in. It runs from April through October.
As a bit of background, the Domaine du Rayol is not a traditional botanical garden. Designed by the renowned landscape architect Gilles Clément, it is organized into themed gardens that take visitors on a journey through the Mediterranean flora of the world: here, you can explore California, Australia, the Canary Islands, and even South Africa—all in one place.
