The owner has put her heart and soul into it and does a wonderful job of combining luxury, romance, the unusual, and eroticism.
After 12 years as an engineer, Marie (that’s her first name) decided to make a 180-degree turn to finally make a living doing what she truly loves: tourism. The epiphany came during a coffee tasting in Costa Rica. While there, she found an old bakery for sale in Bastogne, her hometown. And it was love at first sight.
On-site arrival
On site, you can enter independently by means of a code given to you beforehand. You won't bump into anyone from start to finish. Free private, covered parking directly connected to the suite.

Another thing we like is the ecological aspect. Among the concrete actions taken in favor of the environment: rigorous waste sorting, no single-use plastic bottles, lighting provided mainly by energy-saving LED bulbs, and so on.
Dining options
In the morning, breakfast is available as an optional add-on for €30 for two people.
On the menu: a platter of cheeses and cold cuts from Boucherie Goosse, delicious jam, butter, 2 chilled yogurts from Le Préai, 2 fresh orange juices from Chez Maggy, 2 fresh eggs from Perma Ferme du Ponceret, and pastries from Sébastien Brisy.
You can also order dips made with love (€17 for 2 people) or an Ardennes-style cheese and charcuterie platter for €15 for 2 people.
Finally, Marie set up a mini-bar in the fridge (optional) stocked with a wide variety of soft drinks, including champagne and beer.

The Shelf is located in the Grand-rue of Bastogne, in the south of Belgium, close to numerous shops and restaurants.
If you're looking for a great place to eat lunch, you should definitely try Chez Maggy, located on the ground floor.
The place is also run by the bubbly owner. Maggy was her grandmother's first name. We spent an afternoon there working: the food was delicious, and the interior decor was absolutely charming. Take a look at this photo to see the care that went into the presentation. The pancakes are to die for!
Looking for an unusual evening restaurant? Try Wagon Léo, just a few minutes' walk away. You'll feel like you're in a Parisian brasserie. Choose a table in the carriage, which gives you the impression of eating in a luxury train, a bit like the mythical Orient Express.
