Our experience
We were lucky la Balade des Gnomes to spend a memorable night at la Balade des Gnomes we can tell you all about it. Our room was the Casa Tireli-Rela, but we got to see all the rooms.
What stood out to us throughout our stay: the immaculate cleanliness of the rooms, the feeling of being in another world, and the kindness of the staff, starting with Megge, the manager.
Once there, you’ll discover a whole magical world created by a passionate artisan: gargoyles watch over the entrance, a massive wooden Trojan horse stands proudly, and a good dozen little magical characters are hiding in the trees, inviting you to go on a real scavenger hunt.
Every detail is hand-carved from natural materials (wood, stone, clay) or sourced from near and far. Each piece tells a unique story, blending folklore, nature, and boundless imagination. Here, we don’t just sleep—we dream with our eyes wide open.
The rooms
There are 12 rooms, all of which feature a bathtub. The names are evocative and transport you to another world: "Desert Stars," with its "Arabian Nights" atmosphere; "The Legend of the Trolls," which takes you to a magical forest; and "Macquarie Island," which invites you to set sail aboard a legendary schooner.

Good to know: La Tanière de Chouraveur is designed like a cave and therefore has no windows facing the outside.
When it's raining or snowing outside, the atmosphere is incredibly pleasant. Blankets, candles, and board games are available for free at the reception desk.

Just a short distance from Durbuy
La Balade des Gnomes located in the Ardennes, just a 15-minute drive from Durbuy, Belgium. It’s a real pleasure to stroll through the medieval old town of Durbuy, nestled in a valley and overlooked by its castle. It’s a shame that the place can sometimes be a bit too touristy.
If you're looking for a more authentic destination, we also recommend Marche-en-Famenne, a 25-minute drive away.
