Les Suites du Moulin are 6 cocoons with an almost magical country atmosphere, nestled in an old mill on the banks of a river. You're in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes. Each suite plunges you into a world of its own: a sunroof over your bed, a magical wardrobe housing the dining room, or a Nordic bath on your terrace overlooking the forest. Here's our on-the-spot video.

Our stay
We had the opportunity to sleep here (in the Suite Aglaé!) and to walk around the estate. What we liked best: probably the most beautiful stone bathtub we tested on Let's Go My Love, the rough aspect of the suites and the wild beauty of the estate.
The story
The 6 suites are nestled in the former Moulin du Domaine de Rensiwez, on the banks of an enchanted river. Legend has it that fairies and witches once danced here under the moonlight, guided by an ancient god.
Olivier, the owner, wanted to create cozy nests in the heart of the wilderness. Even as a child, he and his brother loved to build cabins of all kinds: big, small, underground, perched in the air. These singular universes already embodied a strong desire for nature and freedom!
The arrival
When you arrive on site, you cross a small bridge. You can then park your car in the small private parking lot near reception, while you check in. The staff are very friendly: you'll receive your key, a mini-flashlight and a few welcoming touches.
Reception is in French and Dutch: there are two French-speaking receptionists who also speak Dutch, and one Dutch-speaking receptionist who also speaks French. English is of course no problem. If necessary, they can speak German, but this remains a basic level.
Here's a map of the estate to help you find your way around: the reception area is in the cabin furthest to the left of the map. The suites are at the bottom left of the map. Feel free to zoom in.

3 • Danaé • Photo • 💧
4 • Mélusine • Photo • 🌌
5 • Mahé • Photo • 🗜️
6 • Aglaé • Photo • ✨
Each suite is named after a female deity or mythological spirit. For example: Arduinna is the Celtic forest goddess, Mahé embodies spring, Aglaé celebrates creative beauty and Mélusine is the fairy of light and metamorphosis. It's up to you to find the one that calls to you!
Here are our favorite suites: Aglaé, which is the most romantic, Melusine thanks to its sunroof, and undoubtedly Danaé for its private outdoor terrace with wooden bathtub. Our least favorite: Luella. But frankly, it's all subjective.
The minimum stay is normally 2 nights, but some suites allow a single night during the week: Arduinna, Mélusine, Mahe and Aglaé.
The equipment
Depending on the suite you choose, you'll enjoy the following facilities: double, queen or king-size bed, sometimes with canopy or under the stars, terrace or balcony with river view, Nordic bath, wooden or stone bathtub, bathroom with bluestone or mortex shower, dining room hidden in a magic cupboard, living room with wood or pellet stove, fully equipped kitchen or kitchenette and heating.
There's wifi in the Moulin lobby (not in the suites) but you can easily connect to your 4G or 5G from your smartphone.
Catering
In the morning, a breakfast option is available for €38 for 2 people. Menu: 2 croissants, 2 rolls, jam, cheese, smoked ham, 2 eggs, 2 yoghurts, homemade seasonal fruit compote, freshly squeezed orange juice or organic apple juice, butter, coffee or tea, milk, sugar.
It's also possible to order a brunch package at €65 for 2 people: croissants, jam, spread, pancakes, maple syrup, banana, yoghurt and granola, homemade seasonal fruit compote, eggs, smoked ham, cheese, delicious homemade quiche, squeezed orange juice or organic apple juice, butter, coffee or tea, milk and sugar.
For your meals, you can order aperitif baskets, a 3-course menu prepared by a caterer, a barbecue menu or a seasonal raclette menu. We tried the Barbecue menu (€33 per person) and the meat was delicious! On the menu: papillote of potatoes, rosemary, trio of homemade sauces, salad, crudités, scampi skewer with green pesto, beef, marinated turkey skewer, herb sausage and lamb chop with thyme.
Advice
- Choose your suite carefully, as each offers a very different experience.
- Try to come during the week if possible: it's quieter, there's more choice and the price is a little lower.
- Don't forget to book your catered dinner at least 72 hours in advance.
- Have your breakfast delivered to your bed (€5 supplement).
- If you opt for the Luella suite, allow around 3 hours to heat the Nordic bath.
Location
The Domaine de Rensiwez is nestled in the heart of a picturesque location: the Deux Ourthes Nature Park, very close to Houffalize in the Belgian Ardennes. There are many things to do in the surrounding area, including hot air balloon rides, fishing, kayaking, and numerous hiking trails.
If you're looking for a rustic restaurant nearby, there's Le Charme de Wibrin not far away. It's in our top 5 in all of Belgium. A real mountain chalet, very cozy in winter and with a lovely, quiet terrace. Delicious food and... Don't miss the crêpes!
Do you know the legend of the Valley of the Fairies? As you leave Rensiwez towards Houffalize, there's a mysterious sign about it. This is the valley of a stream called "Martin Moulin", where fairies are said to have made their home long ago. They were graceful and benevolent, but not often seen. It is said that they were born in the mists of the river, where the Moudehan cliff falls into the Ourthe.
