Les Cabanes de Rensiwez is a majestic wilderness estate on the banks of a river in southern Belgium, near Luxembourg. There are 32 luxurious cabins and the 6 Suites du Moulin. Depending on the accommodation you choose, you'll enjoy a Nordic bath, sauna or outdoor tub. Get ready for an enchanting stay in fabulous surroundings.
Mention Let's Go My Love when booking on the official website, and a bottle of Prosecco will be waiting for you in the cool of your cabin on arrival. You can ask for a non-alcoholic alternative if you like: a bottle of Wignac, a delicious natural and organic cider. Look at this picture to see where to mention us.
You can mention Let's Go My Love by phone or e-mail, no problem! Reservations can be made online, by telephone on +32 61 28 90 27 or by e-mail, every day from 9am.
We were lucky enough to stay in the Cabane "Léon" for 2 nights. It was wonderful. What we liked best: the wild beauty of the estate, the fabulous view from our cabin, the wooden bathtub and the real sense of disconnection. We'll tell you all about our experience below and give you a few tips.
With les Cabanes de Rensiwez, owner Olivier set out to create cozy nests in the heart of the wilderness. Even as a child, he and his brother loved to build cabins of all kinds: big, small, underground, perched in the air. These singular universes already embodied a strong desire for nature and freedom!
When you arrive on site, you cross a small bridge. You can then park your car in the small private parking lot near reception, while you check in. The staff are very friendly: you'll receive your key, a mini-flashlight and a few welcoming touches.
Here's a map of the estate to help you find your way around: the reception is in the cabin furthest to the left on the map. Feel free to zoom in.
Once you've checked in, you can take your car and park it in one of the 3 parking lots located in the center of the estate. Then it's on to the adventure: there are 32 luxurious cabins and the 6 Suites du Moulin located in the center of the estate, with their rustic, country-style decor.
A few comments:
- 8 cabins by the water (bottom of map)
- 13 cabins are tucked away in the privacy of the hillside (center of map)
- 11 cabins are nestled at the top of a splendid ridge (right).
- All cabins are dog-friendly, with the exception of the "Temps Retrouvé" cabin on the hill.
- Almost all cabins require a minimum of 2 nights' accommodation, but from Monday to Thursday you can spend just one night in some cabins.
- All cabins and suites offer a wooden bathtub
- There are 8 cabins with outdoor Nordic baths, 4 cabins with outdoor tubs and 3 cabins with saunas.
- At Le Moulin, we love the "Aglae" Suite with stone bath and the "Mélusine" Suite with transparent roof.
The cabins on the ridge are the most luxurious and the most remote. From the reception area, it's about a 20-minute walk. The views over the valley are breathtaking, especially from "Cabane de Jean", which is located at the summit and offers a bird's-eye view of the river.
We really like the 8 waterside cabins, which offer a more bucolic, village atmosphere, a little like in Lord of the Rings. They are relatively close together. Finally, the hillside cabins are hidden in the vegetation and offer real privacy. You have the impression of being in the middle of the jungle.
Depending on the accommodation you choose, you'll enjoy the following facilities: bedroom with king-size bed, fully-equipped kitchen, wood-burning stove with everything you need to light a fire, indoor and/or outdoor bath, Nordic bath, sauna, small bathroom and toilet. Bed linen, towels and bathrobes are provided.
All cabins and suites are decorated and furnished with raw, natural materials, echoing the surrounding nature. Wood and stone create a charming rustic feel. In the evening, fire and candles create a cocooning atmosphere and a real sense of well-being.
There's no wifi or TV. But you can easily connect to your 4G or 5G from your smartphone.
Practical tip: if you book a cabin with a Nordic bath, be aware that it takes between 3 and 5 hours to heat up the Nordic bath. You can ask for optional pre-heating (50€) so that you can enjoy the Nordic bath as soon as you enter the cabin. The sauna, on the other hand, heats up in 45 minutes on average.
If you're celebrating a special occasion, you can ask our team to create a romantic setting in your cabin or suite.
In the morning, a breakfast option is available for €30 for 2 people. On the menu: coffee or tea, cold meats, orange or apple juice, bread baked on site, pastries, jam, honey and other delicacies. If you're on the ridge, it's delivered free of charge near your hut at around 9am. If not, you can pick it up at reception, or request delivery as an option.
For your meals, you can order aperitif baskets, a 3-course menu prepared by a caterer or a barbecue menu. We tried the Barbecue menu (€58 for 2 people) and the meat was delicious! On the menu: papillote of potatoes, rosemary, trio of homemade sauces, salad, crudités, scampi skewer with green pesto, beef, marinated turkey skewer, herb sausage and lamb chop with thyme.
Domaine de Rensiwez is nestled in the heart of the picturesque Parc Naturel des Deux Ourthes, near Houffalize in the Belgian Ardennes. There's plenty to do in the area, from hot-air ballooning and fishing to kayaking and hiking. If you're looking for a restaurant nearby, we love Achouffe Valley and its lovely terrace.
Finally, do you know the legend of the Valley of the Fairies? As you leave Rensiwez towards Houffalize, there's a mysterious sign about it. This is the valley of a stream called "Martin Moulin", where fairies are said to have taken up residence long ago. They were graceful and benevolent, but not often seen. It is said that they were born in the mists of the river, where the Moudehan cliff falls into the Ourthe.
