Les Cabanes des Dolimarts is a magical estate located in the heart of one of the largest Ardennes forests, in southern Belgium on the French border. There are 20 luxurious cabins, each uniquely furnished. Prepare yourself for a dream holiday surrounded by deer, hinds, birds of prey and roe deer.
Mention Let's Go My Love when booking on our partner's official website, and a bottle of Prosecco will be waiting for you at check-in. Don't hesitate to ask for a non-alcoholic alternative if you don't want alcohol. Look at this picture to see where to mention us. You can also mention Let's Go My Love by phone or e-mail, no problem!
We had the opportunity to spend 2 memorable nights at Cabane de Rose, which is a really well-appointed cabin with a beautiful view of the forest. It was a fantastic stay and a real return to our roots.
Important: check-in is only possible on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 4pm and 7pm. If you plan to arrive after 7pm, ask for instructions in advance, and a folder with all the necessary information will be waiting for you in the mailbox at the entrance. Communication is in French, Dutch or English.
Dogs are welcome in all cabins, except Cabane de Chloé, which is reserved for people with allergies. The whole area is just incredible for dogs, it's paradise.
With this project, Olivier, the owner, wanted to create cozy nests in the heart of the wilderness. Even as a child, he and his brother loved to build cabins of all kinds: big, small, underground, perched in the air. These singular universes already embodied a strong desire for nature and freedom!
When you arrive, there's a parking lot on your right. Leave your car there and head for the estate's main reception and grocery hut. Here you may have the chance to meet Karolina (who takes care of reception and reservations) or Kévin, who makes sure everything runs smoothly on the estate.
When you check in, you'll receive a key to the cabin, a small flashlight, a small welcome gift and, if you've mentioned Let's Go My Love, a bottle of bubbles. It's time for adventure!
Look at this plan (you can zoom in easily) to get an overview of the estate. The reception area is on the left, in the middle of the picture. We filmed this part of the estate from the air. Here's a drone video.
There are 20 luxurious cabins scattered throughout the forest, each isolated to guarantee your privacy. Some are on the ground, while others are higher up. What we love: the cabins have been patiently imagined and built one by one to suit the location. Each one is truly unique.
Depending on the cabin you choose, you'll enjoy the following facilities: king-size bed nestled in a wooden alcove, bathroom with bluestone shower, fully-equipped kitchen, lounge area with large sofa and wood-burning stove, outdoor terrace, bathtub (copper, wood or stone), Nordic bath, view of the Ardennes hills and barbecue. The interior decor is colorful, cocooning and tasteful.
Extras include breakfast delivered discreetly in the morning, aperitif baskets and champagne aperitifs. In the evening, delicious menus are prepared by a local chef using seasonal produce and vegetables from the garden. There's also everything you need to cook in the cabin.
And 5 final tips:
1. When you drive to the estate, your GPS may want you to turn off the main road at Bohan. Be careful, this is not the right way and the road cannot be taken by car. We made the mistake during our journey and had to backtrack. We have to stay on the main road.
2. We advise you to do some shopping at the Bohan supermarket before arriving at the estate, which is about 10 minutes away. This will save you having to come back later.
3. Bring good boots and/or walking shoes, as the estate can be quite muddy in wet weather.
4. Don't leave food out in the open in your cabin overnight, to avoid tempting rodents.
5. Bring matches to light the wood-burning stove and candles. These are normally provided in the cabin, but a safety device is always preferable.
Domaine des Dolimarts lies in the heart of a vast forest, on a hill overlooking the Semois Valley, on the border between Belgium and France. Access is via a small road winding through hills and forests. There are several parking spaces on the estate. If you fancy a hike in the area, we like the Tombeau du Géant in Botassart, which offers breathtaking scenery.
