Our stay at the estate
We had the opportunity to spend two memorable nights in the Cabane de Rose, which is really well equipped and offers a beautiful view of the forest. It was a fantastic stay and a real return to nature.
With this project, Olivier, the owner, wanted to create cozy nests in the heart of the wilderness. Even as a child, he and his brother loved to build cabins of all kinds: big, small, underground, perched in the air. These singular universes already embodied a strong desire for nature and freedom!
Check-in is only possible on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. If you plan to arrive after 7 p.m., please request to receive all instructions in advance, and a packet will be waiting for you in the mailbox at the entrance with all the necessary information.
When you arrive, there's a parking lot on your right. Leave your car there and head for the estate's main reception and grocery hut. Here you may have the chance to meet Karolina (who takes care of reception and reservations) or Kévin, who makes sure everything runs smoothly on the estate.
Reception is available in French, Dutch, or English: there is a French-speaking receptionist who also speaks Dutch and a Dutch-speaking receptionist who also speaks French. If necessary, they can speak German, but only at a basic level.
When you check in, you'll receive a key to the cabin, a small flashlight, a small welcome gift and, if you've mentioned Let's Go My Love, a bottle of bubbles. It's time for adventure!
Look at this plan (you can zoom in easily) to get an overview of the estate. The reception area is on the left, in the middle of the picture.
The estate is located in the heart of a vast forest, on a hill overlooking the Semois Valley.
The cabins
There are 25 luxurious cabins scattered throughout the forest, each one isolated to ensure your privacy. Some are built on the ground, while others are elevated. What we love: the cabins were patiently designed and built one by one according to their location. Each one is truly unique. Here are our favorites:
1 • Eleonore's Cabin • Photo
2 • Josephine's Cabin • Photo
3 • Harold's Cabin • Photo
4 • Rose's Cabin • Photo
5 • Frederic's Cabin • Photo
Depending on the cabin you choose, you'll enjoy the following facilities: king-size bed nestled in a wooden alcove, bathroom with bluestone shower, fully-equipped kitchen, lounge area with large sofa and wood-burning stove, outdoor terrace, bathtub (copper, wood or stone), Nordic bath, view of the Ardennes hills and barbecue. The interior decor is colorful, cocooning and tasteful.
Several extras are available, including breakfast delivered discreetly in the morning, aperitif baskets and champagne aperitifs. For the evening, delicious menus are proposed by a local chef using seasonal produce and vegetables from the garden. There's also everything you need to cook in the cabin.
A few tips
- When driving to the estate, your GPS may want you to turn off the main road at Bohan. Beware, this is not the right way and the road cannot be taken by car. We made the mistake during our journey and had to backtrack. Stay on the main road.
- We advise you to do some shopping at the Bohan supermarket before arriving at the estate, which is about 10 minutes away. This will save you having to come back later.
- Bring good boots and/or walking shoes, as the estate can be quite muddy in wet weather.
- Don't leave food out in the open in your cabin overnight, to avoid tempting rodents.
- Bring matches to light the wood-burning stove and candles. This is normally provided for in the cabin, but a safety device is always preferable.
