Love at first sight

We might as well tell you straight out: we've literally fallen in love with this place. From the sidewalk, you'd never suspect what awaits you... But once you're inside, you'll discover a superb home furnished with incredible passion.

Filip welcomes you as guests of honor. A welcome drink is always offered in the lounge... And what a living room it is. Candles everywhere, superb furniture, a large chandelier and crazy charm. When it's snowing outside, the atmosphere is surreal.

Filip hails from the Basque country on his grandfather's side. He has worked in the furniture industry all his life. With his wife, they opened the restaurant in 2012 and the hotel in 2020... a few weeks before the covid, yes! Filip is a deeply human person who really listens to you and never treats you like a number. Always attentive. High class, in all its simplicity.

The 5 suites are magnificent, and the price per night is still very reasonable for this level of refinement. It's as if you were in a castle (a bit like Downtown Abbey) but right in the center of Bruges. There's also a touch of Barry Lyndon, or the feeling of being in a Venetian palace.

Depending on the suite you choose, you'll enjoy the following amenities: king-size bedding with divine comfort (my goodness!), sturdy, thick pillows, bathtub in the middle of the room or in the bathroom, walk-in shower, decorative fireplace, small sitting area, air conditioning, coffee machine, wifi, perfect soundproofing and a very practical honesty bar in the corridor.

The food there is so good

In the evening, sit back and enjoy delicious Italian cuisine in a subdued, superbly romantic atmosphere. Very small menu. Be sure to try the beef tagliata alla Fiorentina. Exceptional yet very simple. If you'd like a glass of red wine, we warmly recommend Nero d'Avola or Primitivo. And then you're in heaven.

In the morning, a delicious breakfast is served in the dining room at a price of €70 for two. Yes, it's not cheap. But try it and you'll see what we mean. On the menu: fresh cut fruit, a tiered tray like in luxury hotels, yogurt, cold cuts, fresh cheese, pastries, bacon, eggs, coffee, and delicious cappuccino.

The day we had breakfast, we were the only guests. What a marvel... When you walk down the stairs and discover this dining room, it's like stepping back in time to Christmas morning. Candles everywhere, snow visible from the window, the floor a little warm, music in the background...

The medieval city of Bruges

Castelsuites is located 5 minutes' walk from Bruges' historic center, and only 15 minutes' walk from the train station. Nice little stroll if you're walking from the station. On-site parking costs €30 per day.

The town is something of a historical miracle. After 400 years of lethargy, it was spared industrialization, and its magnificent medieval buildings were preserved and restored during the neo-Gothic wave of the 19th century.
