Our Stay at the Castle
We had the chance to enjoy a very relaxing stay here, meet the very friendly staff, and explore every corner of the castle for a good two hours. We had a deluxe room with a view of the park and a freestanding bathtub. There are a few minor flaws, but overall we love it!
Here are our favorites:
- The brand-new spa, which opened in July 2026
- The very attractive rates (starting at €119 per night on weekdays)
- Each room is completely unique
- The traditional materials preserved in some rooms
- The original hardwood floors and fireplaces
- The very charming and passionate staff
The Castle
Built in 1644, the Château du Pont d’Oye is a place steeped in history that has had many different lives. In the 18th century, under the leadership of the Marquise du Pont d’Oye, the estate hosted lavish parties and splendid receptions, to the point that life there was sometimes compared to that at Versailles.
In 1932, the estate was purchased by Pierre Nothomb, a Belgian writer, poet, and politician. He then gave the Château du Pont d’Oye a new purpose: that of a place for culture and intellectual gatherings.
Pierre Nothomb’s great-granddaughter, the writer Amélie Nothomb, speaks of her deep attachment to this home and the surrounding forest, with which she fell in love as a teenager.
The atmosphere here is very cinematic: walking on the creaking period hardwood floors, curling up by the fire in the living room in winter, having a drink in the gazebo in summer, or soaking in the nice, hot Nordic bath in the fall...
The rooms
There are 16 rooms, and each one has a unique name. Some rooms still feature remnants of the past: a cob wall or a stone column, for example.

Depending on your choice, you’ll enjoy the following amenities: a king-size bed, a bathroom with a walk-in shower and a freestanding bathtub, complimentary toiletries, bathrobes, a hair dryer, a sitting area, and a view of the castle courtyard, the pond, or the forest.
Tip: Feel free to specify your preferred room when you make your reservation. The staff always does their best to accommodate you.
Good to know: A 6-bedroom guesthouse on the estate can also be rented out exclusively. We visited it and absolutely loved it. It’s like a large country house with a big rustic table, a beautiful terrace, and a view of the castle.
Dining options
Every morning, an optional breakfast (€36 for two) is served in the castle’s historic salons, surrounded by paintings and fireplaces. On the menu: pastries, artisanal breads, local cheeses and cold cuts, yogurt, fruit, apple juice from Rachecourt, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.
Throughout the day, you'll have access to an honesty bar featuring a selection of wines, soft drinks, and local beers, as well as hot beverages and dishes prepared by a local caterer.
The spa in the forest
The wellness area is located behind the castle, on the edge of the forest. It’s awesome! Facilities include a traditional sauna, a steam room, two Nordic baths (one cold and one hot), and an XXL outdoor hot tub. Access to the spa is an additional charge of €35 per night per person. It’s open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A variety of massages and treatments are offered in partnership with Bellabay, a local wellness center. The products are from Maison Éole, the prestigious Belgian brand.

Looking for a good restaurant? We highly recommendLes Plats Canailles de la Bleue Maison, just 300 meters from the castle, with a waterfront terrace. It’s actually the castle’s former forges. The little thatched-roof-style house invites you to enjoy some truly delicious bistronomic cuisine.
