Les Cabanes Nids des Vosges (Coucoo Cabanes) is a fantastic resort with 14 luxurious cabins in the heart of the Vosges Forest, about a 20-minute drive from Gérardmer, between Alsace and Lorraine. Some feature a Nordic hot tub on the terrace or a sauna with breathtaking views. The sound of birds singing, squirrels in the trees, the peaceful atmosphere… The place is magical!

The 14 one-of-a-kind cabins
First and foremost, it’s important to know that Coucoo Cabanes embodies a true way of life where a warm welcome goes hand in hand with a deeply eco-conscious vision.
Each cabin is designed to offer a unique and immersive experience, while respecting the surrounding environment. The materials are sustainable, the layouts are designed to blend with nature, and energy choices are focused on efficiency.
It's tourism on a human scale, committed, sincere and inspiring. Ambitious yes, but not at any price. It resonates with us.
Nestled among century-old ash trees, giant firs, and majestic beech trees, the 14 cabins are located on an exceptional natural plateau at an elevation of 700 meters.

2 • La Vision Cabin • Photo • Photo
3 • La Forêt Cabin • Photo • Photo
4 • La Bien-Hêtre Cabin • Photo • Photo
5 • Forêt 1 Cabin & Spa • Photo • Photo
Each cabin has its own unique character. We especially love La Vision and its huge floor-to-ceiling window without any curtains, so you don’t miss a single detail of this sublime landscape.
La Forêt, one of the largest cabins, features a Nordic bath and a private corner of the forest.
The L'Observatoire Cabin is the highest of them all (10 meters above the ground). It is the only one that does not have a bathroom per se, but it does have a water supply and a shower at the front desk.
Finally, the Bien-Hêtre features a private sauna and an absolutely magnificent room with a pyramid-shaped roof made of wood and glass, offering a breathtaking view of the forest and the sky.
Depending on the cabin you choose, you’ll have access to the following amenities: a double or queen-size bed, a spacious terrace with a Nordic hot tub, a private panoramic sauna or steam room, a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and towels, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen (oven, stovetop, refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee maker, etc.), electric heating, and electricity.
The extras
Early in the morning, breakfast is included and will be waiting for you at the bottom of your cabin, in a small basket.
On the menu: pastries, fresh bread, jams, fruit juice, coffee, tea... If you'd like to add to it, a savory supplement (€10 for 2 people) is available and includes ham, sausage, cheeses, and organic eggs from local artisanal producers.
When it comes to meals, there are several options available to you:
- Set of 3 artisanal terrines: forest-style, mirabelle plum, Vosges blueberry (€19)
- Local cuisine dinner (€48 for 2)
- Gourmet dinner at one of Gérardmer’s fine-dining restaurants (€170)
- Crémant d'Alsace (€22 per 75cl bottle)
- Champagne (€20 per half-bottle and €39 per 75cl bottle)
- Bordeaux wine, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru (€39 per 75cl bottle)
On the menu for our regional dinner: Munster cheese gratin, beef Parmentier, Vosges-style smoked meats, blueberry panna cotta… hearty, traditional Vosges recipes for an evening that evokes the mountains. Be sure to order your extras at least 2 days before your arrival.
Finally, if you'd like to surprise your partner, choose a bouquet of fresh roses and petals delicately scattered on the bed in your cabin when you make your reservation. This option costs €49.
The Well-Being Aspect
The cabins are divided into three categories: the "Cosy" cabins, which do not have wellness facilities; the "Deluxe" cabins, which feature either a Nordic bath or a private sauna; and the "Villa" cabins. These cabins feature their own wellness area with a Nordic bath, sauna, and steam room.
Tucked away in the Maison Blanche, a fully renovated former farmhouse in the Vosges, a sauna is also available and can be reserved for private use by anyone for €20 for 50 minutes for two people.
And, to extend your relaxation, you can also opt for a couples' massage lasting 30 or 50 minutes, priced at €98 and €158, respectively.
In the heart of the Vosges Mountains
The Cabanes Nids des Vosges are located in Champdray, between Gérardmer and Épinal. It’s the perfect starting point for exploring the treasures of the Grand Est region: the lakes of Gérardmer, Longemer, and Lispach, as well as the ridges and forests of the Vosges...
It's a 15-minute drive away, and we really love the short hike to the Tendon Waterfall. It's the highest waterfall in the Vosges, and a somewhat magical place. Stunning in every season, it sometimes even freezes over in winter. Be sure to wear good hiking shoes.
A little further on, the small town of Gérardmer welcomes you with open arms. In both summer and winter, the lake and its surroundings are an ideal place for outdoor activities and exploring the landscapes typical of the Vosges Mountains.
If you're looking for a place to eat, we love L'Atelier de Gérardmer, run by a charming couple who serve crêpes and Breton galettes prepared in an open kitchen. Finally, for a truly unique break, head to L'EnchanThé, a tea room with a magical setting straight out of *Alice in Wonderland*. The pastries there are as beautiful as they are delicious.
