Our stay here
We had the opportunity to spend a night in the "Elaho" floating hut (no. 16 on the map below), and it was an absolutely unique experience. What we liked best: the boat ride to the cabin in the middle of the water, the beauty of the estate, the easy parking and the friendly staff.
We're in constant contact with the team's very friendly Alexia. We met in Paris in the offices of Coucoo Cabanes (in Saint-Ouen) to enrich this text.
The estate is open from mid-March to the end of November. Prices start at around €185 per night for 2 people, and breakfast is always included. Here's a map of the estate to help you find your way around on arrival.
On site, the keys to the cabins are handed over from 4pm to 6pm. You will receive instructions and can then walk to your cabin. Access to your cabin is by secure ladder, staircase or boat.
Étang Verchat is part of the natural heritage of the Territoire de Belfort. Once used to irrigate Giromagny's meadows, the pond has now taken on an ecological and educational role, raising awareness of the local flora and fauna. Its origins date back several centuries, as municipal archive documents testify. We loved walking around it.
There's plenty of wildlife to spot, including storks, foxes, grey herons, grey wagtails and starlings. Underwater, a veritable ecosystem is revealed, populated by roach, pike and catfish, among others.
In the early morning, the floating cabins offer an almost unreal spectacle: a fine mist hovers over the water, the sun's rays filter through the trees, and the silence is punctuated by the distant cry of a heron or the leap of a fish. At dusk, you might spot a curious fox on the edge of the forest, bats swirling around the solar lamps, or hear the hoot of an owl.
During your stay, take advantage of the eco-hut located at the entrance to the estate. There's a lovely sunny terrace on the water's edge, with the option of lunchtime refreshments. Also on the program: massages, yoga classes, sophrology, Nordic walking and Tibetan bowls.
The cabins
Conceived as a gentle immersion in the forest, the cabins don't seek to dominate the landscape, but to blend in. Their architecture respects the environment, using mainly natural materials such as untreated wood, and they are thermally insulated to limit their ecological footprint.
There are 25 cabins in all: 11 are perched in trees between 5 and 13 meters high, 9 float directly on the water (our favorites) and 5 are built on stilts on the water's edge.
Some of our favorite cabins:

2 - Cabane Spa Eden - Photo
3 - Cabane Lov'nid Spa Nuage - Photo
4 - Cabane Spa Elaho - Photo - Video
5 - Cabane Spa Etincelle - Photo
You'll enjoy the following facilities: 16 to 25m² bedroom with queen-size bed, bed linen, sitting area, electricity, heating, natural sheep's wool insulation, bathroom with shower, Bodum coffee machine, swing for reading, private terrace with magical 360° view and Nordic bath heated to 40°C. No wifi.
There are plenty of options to choose from: a brunch basket with a late start, a catered dinner, or a candlelit raclette, for example. The team works exclusively with local producers from the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region.
Just across the Swiss border
Les Cabanes des Grands Reflets are located around Etang Verchat in Joncherey, just a few minutes from Alsace, Switzerland and Germany. Do you like hiking? The Francovélosuisse and Eurovélo6 trails are very close by, making them perfect for cycling or walking. You can also go fishing and, of course, take a boat trip on the pond.
