We were lucky enough to stay here and had a simply perfect night. What we liked most about our experience: the warm welcome from Virginie (the owner), who really took the time to show us around; the high-quality materials, particularly the woodwork; the peaceful outdoor terrace; the incredible bedding; the breakfast; and our jacuzzi on the terrace.
L'Ardenne Autrement isn't a hotel, it's a family home where you'll be welcomed as guests of honor. When you book, the team always contacts you by phone a few days before your arrival to personalize your experience, for example if you're celebrating a special occasion. Communication can be in French, Dutch or English.

Depending on your choice, you'll enjoy the following amenities: king-size bed with high-comfort mattress, private bathroom with shower and/or bathtub, welcome products from Omnisens, Skinjay capsules to perfume your shower (we love them) and private terrace.
🥞 Local breakfast
Breakfast is served every morning from 8.30am to 10am. On the menu: delicious local produce, fresh fruit juices, pastries, eggs prepared to your liking, homemade jams, cheeses, local charcuterie, cereals and fresh bread.
Everything is local: the butter comes from Ferme de la Béole near Namur, the chocolate spread is homemade, the charcuterie comes from the nearby Bosquée charcuterie, the cheeses come from Ferme Guissart in Mierchamps and the fruit juices are 100% organic.
🌱 Creative table d'hôte dining
Once a week, on Fridays, head to the 100% terroir table d'hôtes to discover the creative cuisine of award-winning chef Benoît and his daughter Virginie. The cuisine is organic, local and tasty, and the chef can adapt to your preferences: vegetarian, vegan, intolerant or allergic. A 4-course gastronomic menu is available for €65, or a 3-course local menu for €45.
On other evenings, a delicious 2-course menu awaits you at 7pm, in the comfort of your room. If the weather is fine, you can dine in complete privacy on your terrace. Pure pleasure.
On weekdays, a lunch menu is available on Mondays and Tuesdays at noon for €39.
💧 The wellness area
During the day, head to the spa for a moment of pleasure. On offer: relaxation room with herbal tea bar, outdoor jacuzzi, sauna, and two ergonomic infrared seats. This is included in the room price. Massages are also available as an option. Remember to book at least four days in advance.
🌳 In the heart of the Belgian Ardennes
L'Ardenne Autrement located in the village of Hives, in a peaceful setting. La Roche-en-Ardenne is only 10 minutes away by car and Durbuy is 30 minutes away. The hotel offers free secure parking. Don't miss the Battle of the Ardennes Museum in La Roche: a fascinating visit that will give you a better understanding of the issues at stake and the course of World War II.
If you're looking for a rustic restaurant nearby, there's Le Charme de Wibrin not far away. It's in our top 5 in all of Belgium. A real mountain chalet, very cozy in winter and with a lovely, quiet terrace. Delicious food and... Don't miss the crêpes!
Looking for a place to go for a walk? We highly recommend the Promenade du Hérou, starting from Nadrin, just a 15-minute drive away. The scenery is varied and stunning! Make sure you wear good walking shoes, as the trail is relatively difficult.
The Balade des Castors in Marcourt is also well worth a visit. On an 8 km itinerary, you can observe beavers in their natural environment.

Serge, Virginie and Benoît decided to start a family adventure together by founding a comfortable guest house near La Roche-en-Ardenne. Serge, a specialist in home automation, is in charge of all the technological aspects of the house. His wife, Virginie, is a beautician and takes care of the wellness area of l'Ardenne Autrement. And Benoît, Virginie's father, is the master chef of the house.
