La Planque is a 3* boutique hotel hidden away in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, France, in the typically Parisian neighborhood of Belleville. It's a family-run hotel, authentic and endearing. There's homemade cake and coffee available all day long. Definitely one of our favorite hotels in Paris.
Reservation
We advise you to book your stay at La Planque via Booking.com, which often offers free cancellation. Send us a message on Instagram if you go, it would make us super happy.
Our stay
We had the opportunity to spend a very pleasant night there. We had room 602 on the top floor, overlooking the rooftops of Paris. What we liked best here: the pleasure of chatting with the friendliest staff of all the hotels we tested in Paris, the top-quality musical playlist and the small vintage elevator.
A pure favorite
Upon arrival, it's hard not to fall under the spell of the eclectic interior design by Dorothée Delay and Daphné Desjeux. The style is at once discreet, intimate and extravagant. All around you: antique books, vases with dried flowers, antique ceramic pots and many other retro objects.
The black-and-white portrait at the back of the dining room is a little eerie, but isn't romance sometimes slightly mysterious?
The team is very family-oriented. You get the impression (perhaps wrongly) that they enjoy working together. Special mention goes to Inès, who is incredibly friendly and natural. Most importantly, you never feel like a number, which is a rarity in Paris, where hotels sometimes have a blasé, mechanical tone. Which is, of course, the worst mistake of all, since every guest should ideally be treated as if they were the 1st customer.
The rooms
The hotel has 36 rooms. Here are some of our favorite rooms:
1 - Cosy - Photo - ☀️
2 - Superior - Photo - 🌿
3 - Deluxe - Photo - 🛁
Depending on the room you choose, you'll enjoy the following amenities: queen or king-size bedding, private bathroom with walk-in shower (we really liked the tiles in ours), retro telephone, air conditioning, flat-screen TV and small desk. Warm colors like purple, khaki and powder pink accompany soft fabrics like linen and fleece.
Breakfast
Early in the morning, breakfast is a sweet and savory buffet with cheese, charcuterie and pastries from the local bakery. You can choose to have breakfast under the magnificent glass roof, at the large wooden table or at a wrought-iron table on the patio.
Location
The hotel is located on a quiet, peaceful side street in the Belleville neighborhood, behind a mauve-colored facade that immediately catches the eye.
Looking for a great place to eat dinner? We tried Elsass —just a minute’s walk away—and absolutely loved it. It’s a very promising Alsatian restaurant. Try, for example, the mushroom ravioli with a runny center, pan-seared shiitake mushrooms, and mushroom sauce… The texture is incredible!
Any other suggestions? We recommend Sugo Pasta Fresca on Saint-Augustin Street. We had the best pesto pasta of our lives there. Great music. It’s very small, so be sure to make a reservation well in advance.
During your stay, we recommend a short visit to the Père Lachaise Cemetery, 15 minutes away. It's a fascinating place to visit, with its shady alleys, statuesque tombs and cobbled streets. A map obtained at the entrance allows you to discover the graves of famous personalities: Molière, Edith Piaf, Oscar Wilde and Frédéric Chopin, for example.
