Les Ruines du Châteauis 2 comfortable guest rooms located in the heart of a unique site in Belgium: the ruins of the ancient Château d'Aische-en-Refail. You're in Éghezée, north of Namur in Wallonia. Get ready for a unique experience! The place was voted "Logement d'exception" in 2024 by Belgian TV's C'est du Belge.
Mention Let's Go My Love when booking on our partner's official website, and a bottle of Cava will be waiting for you in the comfort of your room. You can also request a non-alcoholic alternative. Look at this image to see where to mention us. It also works by e-mail or telephone, no problem.
On arrival, you're greeted by Hélène and Sarah, the friendly owners. You'll receive a few explanations before entering your room in complete privacy.
The history of the ruins goes back a long, long way. Among the castle's earliest owners was the de Glimes family in the 14th century. In 1462, the de Vaulx family became one of Namur's most important families, combining Château d'Aische and its various lands to form the seigneury of Aische.
After 1830, the château was no longer permanently inhabited, and ceased to be so after 1865. Relatively well preserved until 1917, it was then damaged during its occupation by French refugees, who used the doors and panelling for heating. If you're curious, take a look at this postcard to see what the château looked like around 1900. Very nice.
Today, Hélène and Sarah are determined to rehabilitate this historic heritage, while offering a luxurious and refined atmosphere. We particularly like the stones, bricks and magnificent vaulted ceilings.
There are 2 rooms: La Charmante and l'Envoûtante. The former features an outdoor Jacuzzi and private garden, while the latter offers a combined sauna under la tour du château and a non-private outdoor area. Each room features separate access, a private bathroom, welcome products from I Love Eco Essentials, luxury bedding from Sofitel Boutique and a mini-fridge.
Every morning, a delicious breakfast is brought directly to your room. It's included in the price of your reservation. On the menu: fresh bread, pastries, jam, spreads, apple juice, eggs, yoghurt, cold meats and cheeses from the nearby Ferme du Pont des Dames.
In the evening, you can have a meal or aperitif delivered directly to your room. Don't forget to specify this when booking.
Les Ruines du Château are just 20 minutes from Namur and 500 meters from one of Belgium's finest gourmet restaurants: L'air du Temps, a 2* restaurant run by chef Sang Hoon Degeimbre. There are also more relaxed restaurants: Chez Pauline or l'Inopiné, for example. If you want to go for a stroll, we recommend the Grand-Leez woodland walk, which is short and very pleasant!
We're a young team whose mission is to find the most beautiful places for a romantic escape. It could be a secret hotel, a unique hideway or a cabin in the woods, for example.
