Les Nids des Marais five accommodations surrounded by nature in Ciney, near Namur, in Wallonia, Belgium. The nests are scattered among the reeds in the middle of an old pond that was once used to power a mill wheel. The setting is fantastic! Watch our video to get an idea of what it's like.

On-site arrival
The change of scenery is immediate. At the end of a bucolic country road, you'll find a small parking lot on your left and a stone house. This is the reception area, open all night. Go inside to collect your basket with arrival instructions, a bottle of water and your welcome gift if you've mentioned Let's Go My Love.
The reception area also houses a fridge with numerous bottles, beers, apple juice, lemonade, chips and a few snacks. Simply pay via QR code and you're all set. Boots and umbrellas are available if it rains. There are free marshmallows with trident forks.
Look up at the wall. There’s a frame with a quote. It’s the manifesto of Nids des Marais
"Stop for a moment, let time slow down, take the time to get back to what really matters, disconnect, dare to change your habits, live in tune with the nature around you, live in the here and now, take the time to dream, and soak in everything around you."
It's a bit of a cliché, but the place is just perfect for it.
Once outside, you’ll find yourself in front of the home of Foulques and Héloïse, who live on site and can be reached via WhatsApp throughout your stay.
Foulques and Héloïse are the charming owners of Nids des Marais. Originally from Brussels and Ciney, respectively, they have three children and do everything they can to ensure your stay is a complete success. They speak French, Dutch, and English. We’ve been in constant contact for many years.
Please make your own way to your accommodation. There are 5 accommodations on the property. Each one is named after a bird.

The cottages are spaced far apart around a pond and offer complete privacy. That's something we really appreciate here. No one can see you.
"La Mésange" is the closest accommodation to the reception area and, as a result, the least private, but some people actually prefer this proximity to the reception and the owners. The farthest and most secluded is "Le Milan Royal," and it's also one of our favorites.
Les Nids des Marais have been carefully designed to be enjoyable all year round.
In the summer, when it's hot, the marsh provides plenty of coolness, and there's a fan in every cabin. Even during severe heat waves, temperatures drop significantly in the evening. If you're staying at Le Martin Pêcheur, you can cool off in the stream in the morning—it's great.
In winter, when temperatures drop, there's a wood-burning stove near the bed, and the bedding is heated if needed.
Location
Les Nids des Marais is located in Ciney, in the Walloon region of Belgium. There are many walks in the vicinity, not least the Sentiers d'Art: a signposted long-distance circuit winding over 140 km through the communes of Ciney, Gesves, Hamois, Havelange, Ohey and Somme-Leuze. The circuit is punctuated by almost 50 works of art in nature.
If you are looking for an Asian restaurant in the area, we like Top Sushi in the center of Ciney. You can pick up your sushi or eat on the spot. The manager is very nice and the products are very fresh. Taste the Japanese lemonade, it's very good.
Foulques and Héloïse also recommend Au Gré des Saisons in Achet and Entre Nous: the restaurant in the village of Biron, within walking distance of les Nids des Marais. It offers bistronomic cuisine, an intimate atmosphere, and a warm welcome.
