Madeleine de Senlis is a privileged 3* hotel in a quiet street in Paris's 5th arrondissement, in le Quartier Latin, a 2-minute walk from the Jardin du Luxembourg. A rare jewel is hidden in the basement: a private swimming pool celebrating the spirit of Roman thermal baths, with 4 stone vaults and an unforgettable mineral atmosphere.

Our stay
We spent a night here and immediately decided to add the hotel to Let's Go My Love. What we liked best, apart from the pool: the location in our favorite part of Paris, the look of the rooms with their exposed beams and half-timbering, the leafy courtyard and the constant feeling of being in a painting found in a forgotten attic.
A tribute to Parisian art de vivre
The place is presented as the private mansion of Madeleine de Senlis (a fictional woman of letters), celebrating 19th-century Parisian art de vivre: crystal chandeliers, refined fabrics and antique furniture among other things.
The rooms
The hotel has 30 rooms and 1 signature suite. Depending on your choice, you'll enjoy the following amenities: wood panelling on the walls, queen or king size bed, comfortable bedding, bathroom with shower or bathtub, Fragonard welcome products, backlit mirror, television, safe and air conditioning.
Some of our favorite rooms:

2 • Classic Room • Photo • 🏞️
3 • Superior Room • Photo • 🖼️
4 • Suite • Photo • ⛪
A few comments on the rooms:
- They are relatively small, but that's the general rule in Paris.
- The Suite Madeleine de Senlis offers a breathtaking view of the Pantheon
- Ask for a room on a high floor if possible, away from the elevator.
- Rooms on the first floor are noisier (we advise against this).
- Cleanliness is beyond reproach, and quite impressive to be honest.
Breakfast
When you wake up in the morning, you have a choice of 3 places to enjoy your breakfast: the lounge-library, the leafy patio when the weather's fine, or in the peace and quiet of your room. On the menu: healthy products carefully selected for their quality, fruit juices, fresh cheese, bread, pastries, fruit and Proust's madeleines. An express formula is also available.
The splendid swimming pool
Descend the staircase near reception to discover the mineral pool nestled beneath 4 stone vaults, somewhat in the spirit of the Roman baths. When you book, you'll enjoy a free 60-minute private time slot between 9am and 6pm. You can also use the pool between 6pm and 8pm, but it is no longer private.
Location
The hotel is located on a quiet cobblestone street in the Latin Quarter. Take full advantage of the unique atmosphere of the Left Bank (the south bank of the Seine) with many attractions nearby: the Pantheon, the Sorbonne, the Musée de Cluny and the famous Rue Mouffetard, colloquially called La Mouffe by Parisians.
The latter is one of the city's oldest streets, probably dating back to the 3rd or 4th century, during the Lower Empire. 650 meters long, it slopes gently down from Mont Sainte-Geneviève towards the church of Saint-Médard. Countless restaurants and cafés stand alongside butchers, greengrocers, fishmongers, cheese-makers and bakeries.
The Jardin du Luxembourg, right next door to the hotel, is the most beautiful park in Paris (on a par with the Square des Batignoles), with its shady avenues, statues, flowers and majestic trees. Tip: go early in the morning to avoid the crowds, and sit by the 17th-century Médicis fountain. Wouldn't this be the most romantic place in Paris?
Yes, a tasty breakfast is available as an optional extra. On the menu: fruit juice, fromage frais, bread, pastries, fruit, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and Proust's famous Madeleine!
Yes, some rooms have bathtubs. These include the suite and some classic rooms.

No, the Hotel Madeleine de Senlis doesn't have a spa, but it does have a superb swimming pool nestled beneath magnificent stone vaults, reminiscent of Roman thermal baths. It's a particularly soothing place, lit by soft, subdued light and a few candles.
