Schloss Schadau is an absolutely stunning 3* castle located in Thun, in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. The building was constructed in 1852, but the hotel actually opened its doors in 2019. Stepping inside is a bit like being in the British TV series Downton Abbey. The hotel has also been selected by the Michelin Guide.

An incredible setting
You are probably in one of the most romantic castles in Europe. The location alone is worthy of a movie: as you enter the estate, you will see the majestic castle in the Schadau park with Lake Thun and Switzerland's famous triad of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau in the background.
The arrival
Once inside, the reception is in German, French or English. The staff is very attentive and friendly. As soon as you check in, you notice the many historical elements such as the impressive sandstone staircase in gothic style and the trompe l'oeil paintings on the walls and ceiling. The flowers and candles set the mood.
The rooms
There are only 9 rooms located on the top 2 floors, some of which offer a breathtaking view of the lake thanks to private balconies and large windows.

You're in the heart of the château.
Location
The Schadau Park around the castle is a magical setting for a Disney movie. There are more than 150 different trees, some of which are over 200 years old. The park is beautifully maintained and the paths that wind through the forest are perfectly marked. You can also take a walk along the waterfront (and enjoy the view of the Bernese Alps) or have a picnic on the grass.
