La Cabane LeLa a cozy cottage with Nordic-style decor, tucked away in Theux, in the village of Polleur, a 40-minute drive from Liège, Belgium. It’s the perfect spot for a countryside getaway. Here’s a video we filmed during our stay.

Our stay
We had the chance to stay here and chat at length with Jean-Yves. We absolutely loved it, and in our opinion, it’s even better than it looks in the photos. Our favorite things: the simply perfect location, the cleanliness—which Charlotte takes very seriously (everything sparkles and smells wonderful!)—and the sleek Scandinavian furniture.
The site was first dreamt of for many years before being realized by local professionals, in harmony with the agricultural environment. It's a project where every detail has been thought through with the utmost care.
Little House on the Prairie
On site, you always arrive independently, without running into anyone. Charlotte and Jean-Yves live around 300 meters away and are always available if needed.
The house features the following amenities: brand-new queen-size bed with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside, fully-equipped kitchen, wood-burning stove, brazier, Bluetooth audio system and sleek, cocooning interior decor.
One thing you don't necessarily see in the photos: the cleanliness is beyond reproach and it smells wonderful. It's all meticulously looked after by Charlotte. We visit a lot of places and it was quite impressive to see. It's a very important detail when it comes to feeling at home for the duration of your stay.
The house is located on a meadow, on the edge of a forest, at the end of a small country road. The location is really top-notch: everything you need for a magnificent view, without losing any privacy.
Breakfast and dinner
In the morning, breakfast is not yet available. We advise you to go to the grocery store in the village center (Le Petit Polleur), which offers fresh bread and pastries. It's a 1-minute drive. Alternatively, there's the Delhaize store in Tiège, 5 minutes away.
In the evening, Uber Eats and Deliveroo deliver, which is very practical. We tried it out. Don't forget to give the delivery driver arrival instructions, as ours got a bit lost before arriving. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby, of course.
Life in the countryside
La Cabane Lela located in Theux, in the Province of Liège, Wallonia. The Spa-Francorchamps circuit is just a 15-minute drive away. On a sunny day, a visit to Spa is a real pleasure, with its casino, cafés, and many restaurants.
Looking for a good restaurant in the area? In autumn and winter, Le Chalet Suisse restaurant in Jalhay offers fondues and raclettes to take away. Yes, you read that right! Really top-notch.
Not far away, we had the opportunity to discover the Charmille du Haut Marêt, and it was a real "coup de coeur". It's a 600-meter walkway covered with branches that form a veritable canopy of vegetation. It's a magnificent place in any season, and the longest walk of its kind in Europe.
A few ideas for walks to finish with:
- The Hoegne Valley walk to the Chalet du Pont de Belleheid (magnificent)
- To Lac de la Gileppe, circling the lake to admire the Lion
- In the woods of Balmoral
- The Plateau des Hautes Fagnes is full of fascinating, wild places.
