The Hotel Britannia is a magnificent 4* hotel with Anglo-Norman architecture located in Knokke, on the Belgian coast. You're just 5 minutes from the beach. It's a bit like an English country house, with a sunny seaside atmosphere and friendly staff.
Reservation
We recommend booking your stay at the Britannia via Booking.com, which often offers free cancellation. Send us a message on Instagram if you go, it would make us super happy.
Our stay
We stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed our stay. Our favorites were: the warm welcome, the friendly multilingual staff, the delicious breakfast, the tasty cappuccino every morning, and the hotel’s perfect location.
A historic location
The hotel was built in 1928. Take a look at this postcard for a glimpse of the façade at the time. Completely renovated in 2022, this family home was run for decades by Caroline Vanhollebeke. Today, her brother Stéphane manages the hotel with the same passion.
When you arrive on site, you'll immediately notice the magnificent Norman facade with its white, beige, brown and gold accents. It's even more beautiful at night.
The welcome at reception is very warm. You're never a number at the Britannia. The staff speak Dutch, French, English, German and Spanish. Everything is accessible to people with reduced mobility, and dogs are also gladly accepted for a small extra charge.
Rooms and Suites
There are 30 rooms and suites ranging in size from 17 square meters to 50 square meters for the largest suite. Here are our favorites:
1 • Double Room • Photo
2 • Superior Room • Photo
3 • Junior Suite • Photo
4 • Cozy Suite • Photo
Depending on your choice, the following amenities are available: a king-size bed, a bathroom with a shower and/or bathtub, Guerlain toiletries, a flat-screen TV, a kettle, a refrigerator, air conditioning, and a minibar restocked daily.
Breakfast with champagne
In the morning, head to the dining room or the outdoor terrace for a divine breakfast! It’s a sweet and savory buffet featuring local and regional products. The fruit, croissants, and rolls are delicious. The staff also prepares eggs, pancakes (which are truly excellent), and delicious crêpes. The cappuccino is excellent.
What we love: starting the day with a glass of Barons De Rothschild champagne.
5 minutes from the beach
The hotel overlooks one of Knokke’s most beautiful avenues and is just a 5-minute walk from the boardwalk, the beach, and the North Sea. It is the quintessential chic Belgian resort town. It feels just like the French Riviera. There are many luxury boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants to explore. If you stop by the casino, don’t miss the 72-meter-long mural commissioned from the Belgian painter Magritte. During your stay, you can also rent a golf cart for €20 an hour to explore the town at your leisure.
During the day on the beach, for example, you can rent deckchairs by the day from Indi Beach Club, whose staff are very friendly. Great atmosphere at the bar, good music and superb views.
In the evening, there are many restaurants in the area, not all of them to be recommended. The quality/price ratio is not always the best. During our stay, we tried and approved Chez Cédric (the homemade vanilla ice cream, wow) and In The Mood in Bruges, with its magnificent green terrace. It's the perfectRomantic spot . Remember to book several days in advance.
