The hotel was built in 1928. Take a look at this postcard for a glimpse of the façade at the time. Completely renovated in 2022, this family home was run for decades by Caroline Vanhollebeke. Today, her brother Stéphane manages the hotel with the same passion.
We stayed here for 3 nights and our stay was really very pleasant. What we liked best: the quality of the welcome, the kindness of the multilingual staff, the succulent breakfast, the delicious cappuccino every morning and the hotel's perfect location.
When you arrive on site, you'll immediately notice the magnificent Norman facade with its white, beige, brown and gold accents. It's even more beautiful at night.
The welcome at reception is very warm. You're never a number at the Britannia. The staff speak Dutch, French, English, German and Spanish. Everything is accessible to people with reduced mobility, and dogs are also gladly accepted for a small extra charge.
There are 30 rooms and suites, ranging in size from 17m² to 50m² for the largest suite. Depending on your choice, you'll enjoy the following amenities: king-size bed, bathroom with shower and/or bathtub, Guerlain welcome products, flat-screen TV, kettle, refrigerator, air conditioning and minibar stocked daily.
In the morning, join us in the dining room or on the outdoor terrace for a divine breakfast! It's a sweet and savory buffet featuring local and regional products. The fruit, croissants and rolls are delicious. The team also prepares eggs, pancakes (really good) and delicious crêpes. The cappuccino is excellent. What we love: starting the day with a glass of Barons De Rothschild champagne.
During your stay, you can hire a golf cart for €20 an hour to take you around the city.
The hotel borders one of Knokke's most beautiful avenues and is just a 5-minute walk from the sea wall, the beach and the North Sea. It's the chic Belgian resort par excellence. You'd think you were on the Côte d'Azur. Numerous luxury boutiques, art galleries and restaurants to discover. If you make a detour to the casino, don't miss the 72-meter mural commissioned from Belgian painter Magritte.
During the day on the beach, for example, you can rent deckchairs by the day from Indi Beach Club, whose staff are very friendly. Great atmosphere at the bar, good music and superb views.
In the evening, there are many restaurants in the area, not all of them to be recommended. The quality/price ratio is not always the best. During our stay, we tried and approved Chez Cédric (the homemade vanilla ice cream, wow) and In The Mood in Bruges, with its magnificent green terrace. It's the perfectRomantic spot . Remember to book several days in advance.
