Our experience
We had the chance to stay here and really enjoyed our night, especially because of a host of little touches: the souvenir box, often with little chocolates served with coffee (a rare treat!), the homemade breakfast prepared by Régis’s mom who lives right next door, the turtle shell hanging on the wall, the squirrels on the terrace, the lighting, and the little restaurant nearby that we absolutely loved—see below.
When you arrive, you can park your car right in front of the cabin. It's located about 50 meters from Régis's mom's house (Claudine), which also happens to be a guesthouse. Claudine will welcome you at your chosen time (from 3pm to 10pm) and give you a quick tour.
Then, you're all alone in the world. Don't worry—when you're inside the cabin, no one can see you, and you're truly alone among the trees. Check out the view (video) from the balcony.
The treehouse
The cabin measures about 35 square meters and is somewhat reminiscent of an African hut hidden among the trees, with a beautiful terrace where you can relax in the sun.
Your room features the following amenities: a king-size bed, a private bathroom with a shower and separate toilet, interior decor featuring numerous items brought back from the Congo and Central Africa, a rocking chair by the window, a small dining area, a minibar, a coffee machine with complimentary capsules, a Smart TV, and a private terrace.
Every morning, a delicious homemade breakfast is quietly left at your door. It is included in your reservation. You can enjoy it in the comfort of your cabin or at the table on the outdoor terrace. With a little luck, squirrels will keep you company during your meal.
On the menu: fresh bread, pastries, yogurt, eggs, fruit, granola, butter, fresh fruit juice, hot drinks, and homemade jams! Take a look at this photo to get an idea.
The extras
- Minibar available in the cabin with champagne, wines and soft drinks
- Cold platters served in the evening on request (cheese, cold meats, seafood or sushi)
- Electric bike rental (€50 per bike per day)
Just a short drive from Spa
La Cabane du Bois Dormant located near Spa, a 5-minute drive from downtown Spa and 40 minutes from Liège’s Gare des Guillemins train station. Spa is a world-renowned destination known for its stunning spa complex, situated on a hill and accessible by funicular.
Not far from there, we had the chance to explore the Charmille du Haut Marêt (pictured), and we fell in love with it right away. It’s a walking trail about 600 meters long, covered with branches that form a true canopy of foliage. It’s a magnificent place in every season, and it’s also the longest trail of its kind in Europe.
If you're looking for a good restaurant in the area, we tried and loved Le Cinq (external link), just a 3-minute drive away. It's a beautiful, tastefully renovated house at the end of a picturesque country road, with an exceptional welcome from Vanessa and delicious food. A real hidden gem—and not too expensive.
