Le Barn is a country retreat located 45 minutes from Paris, in the Yvelines department, in the heart of France's Rambouillet forest. Looking for a change of scenery amidst horses, romantic walks and wide-open spaces? Then you've come to the right place! Le Barn includes a hotel, wellness center, restaurant, permaculture vegetable garden and a host of outdoor activities. Watch this video on Instagram to get into the spirit.
By the way, I advise you to book your stay at the Barn in advance. You can also find alternative accommodation at Booking.com or even discover the romantic hotels recommended for their atmosphere and the best current deals.
At Le Barn, architecture meets nature. The 2 buildings, typical of the region, have been completely renovated to accommodate almost all of the 73 rooms. Depending on the room you choose, you'll enjoy a view of the paddocks, the surrounding woods, the meadows or the well and mill. The style is inspired by the French countryside and American Shaker furniture.
In-room amenities include a king-size bed, wall art designed by studio Be-Pôles, small multi-purpose china cabinet for breakfast, private balcony or terrace, 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen, down feather pillows and a selection of natural eucalyptus-based home care products.
The wellness area is housed in an old mill. It features a hammam and sauna and 2 bright treatment rooms where a masseuse-reflexologist and an ayurvedic masseur practice their art. There's also a Nordic bath overlooking the woods and horse paddocks. The wellness area is open to non-hotel guests.
In the morning, enjoy a free gourmet breakfast on your terrace or on the grass. For lunch and dinner, discover Le Barn's restaurant: La Serre. Around large wooden tables or under the glass roof, you're sure to enjoy fresh produce from the neighboring vegetable garden.
Throughout the year, the restaurant's menu is based on seasonal produce: pink radishes, asparagus, celery sticks, broad beans, white onions, strawberries, cherries and rhubarb. On the menu: large seasonal salads, blanquette de veau, poule au pot, leg of lamb and rotisserie-stuffed chicken. Delicious!
The surrounding estate is a world of enchantment: the rustle of oak leaves, the scent of mushrooms or the silhouettes of deer. And wherever you look, you see horses. The Rambouillet forest is ideal for horseback riding. Other activities include walks on the GR1 and GR655, yoga, boating on the pond, fishing and golf at Château de Rochefort.
