Pod Różą is a beautiful, historic Hotel 5* located 100 m from the Market Square (Rynek Główny) in Krakow, Poland. Formerly a monastery during the Renaissance, it has been splendidly renovated. Our favorite part? The superb vaulted stone spa and its gourmet restaurant.
Reservation
We recommend that you book your stay at Pod Różą Hotel via Booking.com, which often offers free cancellation. Send us a message on Instagram if you go, it would make us super happy.
A legendary place
A true 17th-century gem, Pod Różą (which means "under the rose" in Polish) is housed in the former Renaissance Palace of Prospero Provano. For many years, it was the city's only boutique hotel, a legendary place where illustrious historical figures such as the French writer Honoré de Balzac and the Russian Tsar Alexander I stayed.
The rooms
There are 57 rooms, including 11 suites, all different and spread over 4 floors. The interiors are particularly elegant: wooden floors, high ceilings, Polish walnut furniture and top-quality leather. From some rooms, you can see the towers of St. Mary's Basilica and, if you open the windows, you can hear the Hejnał Mariacki: the melody played every hour on the trumpet from the basilica's highest tower.
Here are a few of our favorite rooms:

2 • Deluxe Double Room • Photo • ☁️
3 • Junior Suite • Photo • 🪞
4 • Standard Suite • Photo • 🪵
5 • Deluxe Suite • Photo • 🌹
Depending on the room you choose, you will enjoy the following amenities: king-size bed, Fior di Bosco marble bathroom with bathtub and/or rain shower, L'Occitane toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, living room with Stellar Works sofa, and Nespresso coffee machine.
Tip: when booking, ask for a large room on a high floor, away from the elevator and overlooking the hotel courtyard: these are the quietest. Unless, of course, you want to enjoy the Hejnał Mariacki. In that case, specify that too. Mentioning that you're celebrating a special occasion can increase your chances of getting a better room, although this is never guaranteed.
Breakfast
In the morning, enjoy an exceptional breakfast. On the menu: gourmet buffet with homemade bread, tapenade, charcuterie, cheese, yoghurt, granola, hummus, fruit, fresh vegetables, salmon... A la carte service is also available, including Polish sausage, eggs Benedict, mushroom omelette or eggs with caramelized onions.
The restaurant and its glass roof
In the evening, head to the hotel's gourmet restaurant, also called Pod Różą, selected by the Michelin Guide. Located under a huge glass roof, it offers modern, seasonal cuisine that skilfully revisits Polish traditions. We recommend the fish with dill sauce or the lemon and cherry tomato risotto, which is a delight!
The enchanting spa
Don't forget to take advantage of the hotel's superb spa. The place is absolutely enchanting: stone walls, arches, soft lights and candles. You'll find a Finnish sauna, a hammam and heated stone loungers with soothing massage jets.
Location
Pod Różą is located in the heart of Krakow, at 14 Floriańska Street, one of the city's best-known and most prestigious streets. At number 41, for example, you'll find the former home of Jan Matejko, one of Poland's greatest historical painters. Today, this house, now a museum, displays many of the artist's works and memorabilia. You're just a 2-minute walk from the Market Square.
