Hotel Teatr is a small, historic yet intimate 4* hotel on a quiet Krakow street near the majestic Juliusz Słowacki Theater. The hotel opened in 2024 and all the facilities are still new, or nearly so... A favorite with high ceilings, exposed beams, brick walls and a private sauna.
Reservation
We recommend that you book your stay at Hotel Teatr via Booking.com, which often offers free cancellation. Send us a message on Instagram if you go, it would make us super happy.
Our stay
We had the opportunity to stay here during our stay in Krakow, and in our opinion it's the best choice in this price category. What we liked best: the most beautiful part of town (around the theater), the train station a 10-minute walk away, the welcome glass of prosecco, the friendly staff and the picturesque charm of the rooms. Not much to complain about, except perhaps the breakfast: decent but no more than that.
An old church
The hotel is nestled in a building itself built within the grounds of a 17th-century St. Scholastica Church. The name refers to the magnificent Juliusz Słowacki Theater directly opposite, arguably the most beautiful theater in Poland. Incidentally, you can book your tickets directly with the hotel, which has a close relationship with the theater.
An interesting anecdote: the latest renovation of the building revealed the walls of a 13th-century church. Some remains have been preserved and can be seen in the rooms, including fragments of ancient portals with pointed arch vaults and period ceilings.
The rooms
There are just 15 rooms, each with its own unique interior design. Here are a few of our favorite rooms:
1 • Standard Room • Photo • 🚿
2 • Superior Room • Photo • 🛁
3 • Deluxe Room • Photo • 🪵
4 • Deluxe Suite • Photo • 🛋️
Depending on the room you choose, you'll enjoy the following amenities: king-size bedding, private bathroom, bathtub directly in the room, wood flooring, brick walls, designer wall lights, high ceiling, mini-bar, air conditioning and coffee machine.
We stayed in room n°204 (we had been upgraded) and it's clearly a very good choice: very spacious, superb view over the neighborhood, designer bathtub next to the bed and private sauna on the same floor. We advise you to reserve your sauna time at check-in. It's extra but not very expensive.
Breakfast
In the early morning, breakfast is served in the dining room to the left of the reception area. It is adequate but not extraordinary. You can order eggs cooked to your liking. If you are leaving very early, a basket can be prepared for you to take with you. Convenient!
Location
Hotel Teatr is located in the most beautiful part of Krakow, in our opinion of course. The street is quiet and very pretty. You absolutely must go and see an opera at the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre. Sublime building in a green setting and the interior is even more breathtaking. During the day, enjoy a cup of tea at the nearby Czarka Tearoom (our on-site video) and admire the ceiling and walls in particular. The honey cake is top-notch.
In the evening, we really liked Czeczotka Bar near the Market Square (Rynek główny): a few pretty tables near the windows, cozy atmosphere, live music and the best cocktails in town. Try the Zubrowka with vodka spray!
