The Cobergher Hotel is a royal Hotel 5* nestled along the lower banks of the river Lys, in the medieval center of Kortrijk, Belgium. For us, it's without doubt one of the most beautiful hotels in Belgium: a true work of art. It's like being in a sumptuous old palace in an Agatha Christie mystery novel. Watch our video on site.
We advise you to book your stay at Cobergher Hotel via Booking.com, which often offers free cancellation. Send us a message on Instagram if you go, it would make us super happy.
Our on-site stays
We had the opportunity to stay here twice. Wow. It's so beautiful. And what a wonderful evening we had each time at the restaurant. Our favorite things: the truly splendid atrium (especially in the evening), the lounge near the entrance, and our room, which was prepared for our arrival with meticulous attention to detail.
During our first stay, we had room 4, which was like something out of a movie. The next time, we had room 3. We slightly prefer room 4, which is cozier and quieter. Room 3 has the advantage of a bathtub, but it is a little noisier because it is closer to the atrium. But honestly, the experience is very similar.
But where does the hotel's name come from? Wenceslas Cobergher was the Dutch architect of the 16th-century Austrian royal couple Albert and Isabelle. A Renaissance genius, he was a painter, engraver, architect, engineer, numismatist and archaeologist.
Arrival at the hotel
As soon as you arrive, hand your car over to the valet (if needed) and take a moment to admire the elegant façade. The staff is one of the hotel’s greatest assets: they offer a multitude of thoughtful touches, genuine kindness, and an innate sense of hospitality. Everyone looks you in the eye, extending the same level of attention to everyone in your party. You truly feel valued.
The lobby immediately sets the tone. The interior design is particularly grandiose, giving the impression of being in a city castle with a host of exotic influences. Each room has its own color palette. The superb atrium (with a large glass opening at the top) is reminiscent of a Moroccan riad. The taste is exquisite.
Rooms and Suites
We were simply blown away by how the room was prepared. It was undoubtedly the most remarkable preparation of all our stays with Let's Go My Love. Everything was perfectly in place: little chocolates, a free mini-bar, cookies, a welcome note, and impeccable cleanliness worthy of a museum. The lighting was particularly well thought out.
Here are some rooms and suites that we like:

2 • Glorious Room • Photo • Photo
3 • Junior Suite • Photo • Photo
4 • Suite • Photo • Photo
5 • Cobergher Suite • Photo • Photo
It feels like you're in a luxury hotel from another era. Watch this video of the junior suite to get an idea.
There are also several apartments in a second building facing the Lys River and the iconic Broel Towers. Here are the two categories:
1 • Glorious Riverfront Room • Photo • Photo
2 • Glorious Riverfront Terrace • Photo • Photo
Depending on your choice, you'll enjoy the following amenities: king-size bedding, bathroom with bathtub and/or walk-in shower, breathtaking view of the Broel Towers, eclectic mix of design objects, balcony or terrace, air conditioning, espresso machine and Smart TV. We love the chocolate on the pillow every evening and the soft slippers for the wellness area.
Life in the hotel
In the morning, enjoy an à la carte and buffet breakfast (more like brunch, actually) in the dining room. It is served from 7:30 a.m. The menu includes a selection of fresh breads, local specialties, exotic fruit juices, pastries, hot dishes prepared to order, champagne, fresh pata negra ham, and poached eggs. Unparalleled luxury at a very affordable price.
Note: for breakfast, tables are scattered all over the place. Some are necessarily better than others. We ate in the dining room, which was fine, but the tables are close together. Our advice: when you check in, reserve your table for the following morning and ask for one in the exotic lounge, to the right of the bar, as you enter the bar. It's much more intimate.
In the evening, you absolutely must dine at the hotel's gourmet restaurant. It's a true culinary voyage, in a spellbinding atmosphere. The entire meal, and especially the amuse-bouches and dessert, are unforgettable. Please note that the restaurant is only open from Wednesday to Saturday. The price is fully justified by the quality of what's on your plate.
At the end of the evening, the Bar Mémoir welcomes you for a confidential moment with your loved one. It's a meeting place for all those who appreciate top-of-the-range cocktails, exclusive wines and bar bites in a unique eclectic setting. Time is suspended, confidences are exchanged and everything else is forgotten.
The hotel's wellness center is open daily from 8am to 10pm. It is accessible to hotel guests only. It features a traditional hammam, sauna, gym and a wide range of treatments. If you book a stay at the hotel, you'll have free access for 2 hours. This is then privatized and you are the only people inside. The wellness facilities are OK, but not incredible either. It's a small bonus.
A location in the heart of Kortrijk
The Cobergher Hotel is located in the historic center of Kortrijk, on the banks of the Lys, in the shadow of the Broel towers. Lille is 30 minutes away and Brussels 1 hour. If the weather is fine, we recommend a stroll through the Kortrijk beguinage. This hidden gem, adjacent to the market square, is home to 41 whitewashed houses dating back to the 17th century. A true haven of peace.
