🪿 Our trip
We had the opportunity to stay here and... What can we say? We loved everything about it. There are a few minor shortcomings, but overall the pros totally outweigh the cons: the truly fantastic restaurant, the choice of wines, the romantic indoor pool in the old barn, the beauty of the estate, the vegetable garden to visit, the alpacas and the very friendly team.
🌾 Arrival at the destination
On site, be careful not to get lost as there are 2 buildings. You can park your car in the main square, near the bell tower. The check-in desk is right behind you. The hotel is divided between 2 carefully renovated historic farmhouses, witnesses to a rich rural and agricultural past. Napoleon Bonaparte himself set up his headquarters here in 1815.
Behind Indrani Lodge are Jessica and Philippe, two yoga enthusiasts who decided to transform their Brabant farmhouse into a place for sharing, rooted in nature and focused on people.
🛁 The rooms, the suite, and the loft
There are only 12 rooms, plus the suite and the loft, and all of them feature a bathtub, except for the Coquelicot room. We stayed in the Chocolat room, which was very pleasant and quiet. The interior decor is quite minimalist. We really appreciated the homemade welcome cookies and the many little touches. Here are our favorites:
1 • Olive Room • Photo
2 • Prairie Room • Photo
3 • Birch Room • Photo
4 • Chocolate Room • Photo
5 • Loft • Photo
Depending on the room you choose, you’ll have access to the following amenities: king-size bed, balcony or terrace, exposed beams, views of the pool, garden, or restaurant, bathroom with bathtub and/or shower, slippers, bathrobe, hairdryer, sitting area, Smart TV, custom-made and hand-embroidered headboard and benches, projection screen in the loft, espresso machine, heating, underfloor heating, and air conditioning.
🌱 The Vegetarian Restaurant
If you want to eat well, you absolutely must try the 4-course vegetarian menu at Elements. Chef Jérémy, who has worked in several double Michelin-starred restaurants, is constantly renewing his menu according to what the garden produces: herbs, flowers, apples, berries, oils and infusions among others. Around 75% of the vegetables travel less than 150 meters before reaching your plate. Really, really good! Please note that the restaurant is only open from Wednesday to Saturday.
The drinks are once again excellent: apple juice from the orchard, freshly brewed water of the day, kombucha, kefir and a very good selection of roasted coffees. Try the house cocktails (with or without alcohol) or the delicious homemade lemonade. At the restaurant, we tried and thoroughly enjoyed a delicious white wine from South of France , which is also the chef's favorite.
🍞 From breakfast to brunch
Breakfast is served every morning in the dining room next to the restaurant. Everything is very fresh. You absolutely must try the homemade French toast.
Sunday brunch is an all-you-can-eat buffet for €76 for two people. It’s very extensive: panna cotta, fruit salad, yogurt, granola, jams, cannelés, banana bread, cakes, and crêpes. On the savory side: fresh cheeses, homemade sourdough bread, deviled eggs, quiches, soups, salads, and roasted vegetables. A true Sunday feast.
🪵 The pool in the barn
The hotel's pool is located in a charming old barn. If you have the place all to yourselves, it’s a magical experience—one of a kind in Belgium. It’s heated to 29°C using carbon-neutral methods, thanks to a heat pump powered by solar panels and a geothermal system.
There are many other wellness activities available, including a sauna for four people, massages for one or two people, pottery workshops, and yoga classes.
🦙 Take a stroll through the garden
During your stay, don't hesitate to take a stroll in the garden. Have you noticed this hole in the hedge? It looks like you're about to step into the world of Alice in Wonderland. Don't be afraid to explore the other part of the estate: the kitchen garden. Along the way, you'll discover many herbs and flowers for the restaurant, a greenhouse and some adorable alpacas. Don't hesitate to strike up a conversation with our friendly team of gardeners.
A deep-rooted ecological commitment is part of the hotel's DNA: short supply chains, low energy consumption, solar panels and respect for biodiversity.
🌳 Walloon Brabant and its historical treasures
Indrani Lodge is located in Genappe, in Walloon Brabant, between Brussels, Charleroi, and Namur. There are many churches and castles to explore in the surrounding area.
If you’re planning a visit after your stay, we recommend the nearby Villers Abbey. Founded in 1146, it was part of the Cistercian Order and was abandoned after the French Revolution. A must-see, the site is absolutely stunning.
