La Couronne is a charming 4* hotel located in the heart of the old town of Solothurn, 30 min north of Bern by car, in northwestern Switzerland. It is the second oldest hotel in Switzerland, completely renovated in 2017 but retaining all its old-world charm. It has been selected by the Michelin Guide.

The arrival
When you arrive at the right address, you will discover the 500 year old building, beautifully maintained with a view of St. Urs Cathedral. The hotel, formerly called "Krone", has a history closely linked to that of Solothurn, the former city of ambassadors. Many famous people have stayed here, such as Napoleon.
Inside, Natasha and her team welcome you with a smile at reception in 5 languages: German, French, Italian, English or Spanish. The welcome is truly warm, and you immediately feel welcome, pampered and expected.
The rooms
There are 37 uniquely styled rooms spread over 4 floors. Depending on the room you choose, you’ll enjoy the following amenities: extremely comfortable Swiss-made bedding with elegant linen linens, a private bathroom with a rain shower, complimentary toiletries from L’Occitane (external link), solid wood or parquet flooring, restored period windows, a coffee machine with complimentary pods, a kettle with a selection of teas, and a minibar.

Tip: on the fourth floor, the windows are a little smaller, so if you like light, ask for the 3 floors below. Similarly, ask for a room at the back if you prefer peace and quiet. The rooms are pet-friendly, and there are often little extras for dogs: baskets and treats.
Breakfast
In the morning, a buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant, using fresh local produce. Bettina and Valéria provide impeccable service and are always in a good mood. At lunchtime and in the evening, indulge in a stylish dinner of revisited French classics and light menus for discerning gourmets. Excellent chef Martin Elschner is the soul of the restaurant.
The wine bar
From 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., you can also stop off at the wine bar on the first floor. Here you can order a hot or cold snack and enjoy a glass of wine with your loved one. The hotel offers over 150 wines, mainly from France and the French-speaking part of Switzerland. If you like a particular wine, you can order it from map or ask Claudia, our sommelier, for advice.
Location
The old town of Solothurn, in its current state, was built for the most part between 1520 and 1790 and offers a wide variety of architectural styles with a preference for the baroque. The city is captivating and offers many activities. The Wednesday and Saturday markets and the St. Urs Cathedral are among the highlights. The latter is to Solothurn what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris. The view from the tower is breathtaking!

La Couronne is located between Berne, Biel and Basel, but especially opposite the magnificent St. Ursula Cathedral in Solothurn.
