La Couronne is a charming 4* hotel located in the heart of the old town of Solothurn, 30 min north of Berne by car, in northwestern Switzerland. It's the second oldest hotel in Switzerland, completely renovated in 2017 but retaining all its old-world charm.

When you arrive at the right address, you will discover the 500 year old building, beautifully maintained with a view of St. Urs Cathedral. The hotel, formerly called "Krone", has a history closely linked to that of Solothurn, the former city of ambassadors. Many famous people have stayed here, such as Napoleon.
Inside, Natasha and her team welcome you with a smile at the reception in 5 languages: German, French, Italian, English or Spanish. The welcome is really warm, you feel immediately good, pampered and expected.
There are 37 uniquely styled rooms spread over 4 floors. Depending on the room you choose, you will enjoy the following amenities: very comfortable Swiss bedding with refined linen linens, private bathroom with rain shower, L'Occitane bath products, solid wood or parquet floors, renovated period windows, coffee machine with complimentary pods, kettle with several choices of tea and minibar.
Our advice: on the fourth floor, the windows are a bit smaller, so if you like light, ask for the 3 lower floors. Similarly, ask for a room at the back if you prefer the quiet. The rooms are pet-friendly and there are often little attentions for the dogs: basket and treats.
In the morning, a buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant, all with fresh and local products. Bettina and Valéria provide impeccable service and are always in a good mood. For lunch and dinner, indulge in a stylish dinner and taste French classics revisited and light menus for demanding gourmets. The excellent chef Martin Elschner is the soul of the restaurant.
From 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., you can also stop off at the wine bar on the first floor. Here you can order a hot or cold snack and enjoy a glass of wine with your loved one. The hotel offers over 150 wines, mainly from France and the French-speaking part of Switzerland. If you like a particular wine, you can order it from map or ask Claudia, our sommelier, for advice.
The old town of Solothurn, in its current state, was built for the most part between 1520 and 1790 and offers a wide variety of architectural styles with a preference for the baroque. The city is captivating and offers many activities. The Wednesday and Saturday markets and the St. Urs Cathedral are among the highlights. The latter is to Solothurn what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris. The view from the tower is breathtaking!

La Couronne is located between Berne, Biel and Basel, but especially opposite the magnificent St. Ursula Cathedral in Solothurn. This small town is very lively and offers a multitude of activities that make its visit even more interesting: the weekly market, the natural history museum, the walks along the Aare or the historical museum Blumenstein.
