Les Reflets de Dahouët are 2 authentic waterfront accommodations in a small harbor in the commune of Pléneuf-Val-André, Brittany. Saint-Malo is a 1-hour drive away. We were lucky enough to spend a week here in total simplicity... We fell in love with it. Initially, it was simply intended as a place to work on Let's Go My Love, but we eventually decided to add it to the collection.
Mention Let's Go My Love when you contact Lucie (the owner) to book, and get a double benefit: a welcome bottle and -5% off your stay. We advise you to book via Whatsapp or by phone, it's the easiest way. And the price is much better than elsewhere.
Good to know before you start:
- Minimum stay is 4 nights (off-season)
- There are 2 accommodations: La Maison d'Hippolyte and La Coquille
- La Maison d'Hippolyte has 4 bedrooms, but is also ideal for a couple (from €85 per night).
- La Coquille has 1 bedroom and is very good value for money (from €55 per night).
- The 2 accommodations can easily accommodate a baby
- Try to book in advance, out of season, and always directly with Lucie.
- Traveler reviews are extremely positive
When you arrive, the first thing you'll discover is the port of Dahouët, an authentic place with boats, a few trawlers and quality shops. Notre-Dame-The guardian of the harbor is the statue of the Virgin Mary, which stands at the entrance to the harbor, just a 3-minute walk from where you're staying. You can park right in front of the house, on the waterfront.
La Maison d'Hippolyte is an adorable 3-storey house with sea views and a small private terrace. We particularly like the stone walls, cosy decor and parquet flooring. On the first floor, you'll find a large living room with fully-equipped kitchen, lounge and dining area. We slept in the bedroom on the 1st floor with sea view. Bathroom on 1st floor with bath and shower. The house really has a soul and everything is very well cared for.
One detail we like: "The Frame" Smart TV is installed on the first floor, with free channels and access to Prime, Disney+ or Netflix, for example. You need to log in to your own accounts. If you're not using it, you can use the painting mode, which transforms the TV into a highly realistic painting. The illusion is impressive. We love it.
Another option is La Coquille, located in a small cul-de-sac at the back of the house. The house is not directly on the quay (20 meters) and therefore doesn't offer a view of the sea, but the calm of the place and the unbeatable price easily make up for this small inconvenience. You'll enjoy all the comforts of home: bedroom, fully-equipped kitchen, same Smart TV/table model and bathroom with shower and bathtub.
The 2 accommodations offer everything you need for a multi-day stay, including free parking right across the street, washing machine, iron, storage space for your clothes, wifi and cooking facilities.
Lucie remains at your disposal via Whatsapp throughout your stay. A farmer and Breton by adoption, she is absolutely passionate about the region. She can give you invaluable advice and is always very responsive.
Must-sees :
- Get up early and take the Sentier des Douaniers for a beautiful 30-minute walk to the beach at Pléneuf-Val-André. It's a walk we took every day during our stay. There are 2 secret coves to discover and it's sometimes possible to spot dolphins offshore... Keep your eyes peeled!
- In the morning, pick up your bread rolls and croissants at the bakery on the port, a 5-minute walk away.
- In the evening, grab a bite to eat at La Voile restaurant, literally a 2-minute walk away.
- Buy "Madeleine est pompette" lollipops and madeleines with rum at the port biscuiterie Antoine & Les Sucettes du Val near the water.
- In Val-André, stroll along the beach, buy a perfume from the Breton brand Divine (it smells so good) at Maison Impertinence, a charming boutique run by Hélène, who really takes the time to explain.
- Take the car to Erquy and admire the waterfront Chapelle Saint-Michel.
- Don't miss the absolutely splendid Beauport Abbey in Paimpol (1h by car).
- In high season, take the boat to the island of Bréhat.
Les Reflets de Dahouët are ideally located in the Côtes d'Armor region, 1h10 from Rennes, 1h20 from Mont-Saint-Michel and 4h30 from Paris. Brittany, this jewel anchored in the ocean, is a mysterious and fascinating destination, harboring many secrets. If you're lucky enough to have good weather, you may well fall in love with the region as we have. Since rain is very common, don't forget to bring appropriate footwear and clothing.
