Our experience
We had the chance to spend a nearly perfect first night at Koru. The experience completely exceeded our expectations—and we had high ones to begin with... Wow. Our favorite part: everything. It’s truly the kind of hotel we could talk about for hours, because the owners really understand what makes guests happy.
A little later, we came back a second time, this time to enjoy the restaurant in the garden. It was another wonderful experience. The service was excellent.
Online reviews confirm our feeling: 4.8/5 and over 400 reviews on Google.
Tip: Go for an all-inclusive package. It’s better value, and you won’t have to worry about a thing during your stay. Everything is arranged in advance, and you’ll receive a detailed, hour-by-hour itinerary as soon as you arrive: breakfast, a session in the whirlpool tub, a stroll through the garden, a private spa treatment, a couples’ massage, and dinner at the restaurant, for example. It’s so relaxing to just let yourself be pampered.
The common thread running through the hotel is an extensive trip made between 2009 and 2010 by Bernadette (the Dutch-born owner) to Australia, New Zealand and Asia. The "Koru" project took 5 years to complete, from the architect's first pencil strokes, to location research, building construction and choice of materials.
Bernadette was born in the South of France, in the Cévennes region. After moving to Belgium in 1999, she fell under the spell of Brabant's Hesbaye region, in particular the village of Autre-Église. Stéphane, on the other hand, is originally from Tienen and grew up in the hotel and catering industry. He joined Koru in 2016. The great complicity of the early days quickly turned into lasting love.
Today, the couple welcomes you in French, Dutch, English or German. We love this mix: a certain Germanic rigor combined with true Latin warmth. The best of 2 worlds?
The suites
There are only 7 rooms and suites ranging from 33 to 55 square meters. The Aspara and Malu suites and the Cévennes room are located on the ground floor. The other 4 suites are upstairs. Here are our favorites:
1 • Aspara Garden Suite • Photo • Photo
2 • Nelumbo Garden Suite • Photo • Photo
3 • Kalaya Junior Suite • Photo • Photo
4 • Kauri Spa Suite • Photo • Photo
5 • Waipoua Spa Suite • Photo • Photo
Each room and suite is inspired by a country, a bird, or a flower... For example, Cambodia for the Aspara Suite, the lotus flower for the Nelumbo Suite, Australian emus for the Kalaya Suite, and New Zealand for the Kauri and Waipoua Suites.
Depending on your choice, you’ll enjoy the following amenities: a comfortable king-size bed, a private bathroom, Thémaé toiletries, Nespresso coffee machine, private terrace for the Aspara suite, balcony overlooking the garden in the Nelumbo suite, direct access to the spa for the Kauri and Waipoua suites, air conditioning, Smart TV, minibar, bathrobes, slippers, flip-flops, and a switch to turn off all the lights at once.
Life in the hotel
The hotel spa can be reserved for private use in 90-minute sessions. This is included if you book a package. If you book a room on its own or are visiting as an outside guest, the price is €60 for 90 minutes. You have access to the following facilities: Finnish sauna, private outdoor hot tub, steam room, ice waterfall, aromatic shower, and lounge area. We tried it out and it’s really very pleasant and well-maintained—nothing to complain about.
Looking for an even more premium experience? Add a 60-minute duo massage, a 45-minute session in the private XXL whirlpool bath, or even a formula we love: appetizer/dinner in the restaurant at 6:45pm, followed by an evening session in the spa from 8:30-10pm and... desserts served in the spa at 10pm. Just perfect.
From Tuesday to Saturday evenings, the restaurant invites you to savor refined cuisine featuring local, seasonal produce. In an elegant, subdued setting, enjoy a delicious 3-course menu. Everything is so fresh and lovingly prepared. Be sure to try the herb-crusted lamb fillet. And as for the wine: we really liked the "Terre Ronde".
From Wednesday through Sunday, a breakfast buffet is served in the dining room from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Be sure to make a reservation in advance to enjoy it.
The menu includes: croissants, chocolate or raisin buns, brioche, plain rolls, and multigrain whole-wheat bread from the local bakery, delivered fresh every morning, as well as cold cuts, cheeses, smoked salmon, butter, artisanal jams, spreads, honey from the garden, yogurt from Ferme Mandelaire, cereals, oats, or granola, fresh and dried fruit, crepes, eggs cooked to your liking, fruit juices, and hot beverages.
But the hotel’s true highlight is its stunning Japanese-style garden. It’s well worth a visit both during the day and at sunset, when it’s lit up. The Japanese section, with its waterfalls, koi carp, and rare plants, is a real gem. It’s by far the most beautiful garden on Let’s Go My Love.
When the weather is nice, opt for an exclusive dinner right in the garden. There are only 7 tables. They aren’t all in the same spot but are scattered throughout the garden, ensuring complete privacy. Each table has its own seating area for pre-dinner drinks and a gas fire near the table. Blankets are available. An incredibly romantic atmosphere, especially at sunset. Watch our on-site video to get an idea.
Our tip: When you make your reservation, ask for a table by the water. It’s the best and most secluded spot.
Good to know: If you make a reservation at the restaurant without staying overnight, be sure to mention Let's Go My Love. You'll receive two welcome cocktails.

In a small village
The Koru Hotel & Private Wellness is located in the village of Autre Église, in the heart of Walloon Brabant, in the municipality of Ramillies. We recommend the Promenade des Glaneurs, a roughly 9-kilometer loop around the village and along two streams: the Fagneton and the Frambais. Walk through the Bois des Wayaux and, along the way, discover beautiful square-shaped farmhouses and chapels typical of the region. Allow about 2 hours for the walk.
Secure bike storage in the hotel—very convenient for cyclists.
