The hotel was commissioned in 1475 by the Venetian doge Andrea Gritti, who gave it its name. At the time, it served as a residence for Vatican ambassadors. It actually opened as a hotel in 1895. It was completely renovated in 2014. With a total budget of 35 million euros, the renovation took place over 15 months and had the sustained attention of the Italian lake city.

The Gritti now has 82 rooms, including 21 sumptuous suites. The price per night starts at about 1400€ for 2 people. It's a budget indeed! But if you're celebrating a special occasion as a couple and want to give your partner a fabulous surprise, there's no better place in Venice.
