Les Trois Rois is one of Europe's oldest city hotels, founded as a noble inn in 1681 and transformed into a Grand Hotel in 1844. You're on the banks of the Rhine, in the historic heart of Basel, in northern Switzerland, close to the French border. The hotel has been selected by the Michelin Guide.
We recommend booking your stay at hotel des Trois Rois via Booking.com, which often offers free cancellation. Send us a message on Instagram if you go, it would make us super happy.
Nightly rates start at around €560 for 2 people in a City Room with a view of the old town. Couples from all over the world come to Les Trois Rois, praising the professionalism of the staff, the attention to detail and the fantastic cuisine at Le Cheval Blanc, one of the world's most famous 3* restaurants.
The staff is professional and always present to help you. The staff speaks several languages: German, Italian, French, English and Spanish.
There are 101 rooms and suites at your disposal. Depending on your choice, you will enjoy the following amenities: art deco decor, ultra-comfortable king size bedding, Feuerstein Essentials hospitality products, minibar with complimentary soft drinks, Bang & Olufsen flat screen TV, and a private rooftop with an outdoor Jacuzzi if you opt for the hotel's most prestigious suite.
For your meals, expect a festival of flavors. Chef Peter Knogl and his team welcome you to Cheval Blanc, a restaurant with three Michelin stars and a Gaultmillau rating of 19/20. It is one of the 100 best restaurants in the world with a French haute cuisine enriched with Mediterranean and Asian influences.
If you want to eat in a more relaxed way, go to the hotel's brasserie with some very good Swiss and French specialties. The products are always fresh, from a rich terroir. The view on the Rhine is very pleasant. We love the venison with foie gras, sour cherries and cocoa.
In the evening, head to the bar for a cocktail prepared with refinement by Chef Thomas. The ambience is very refined, with a large fireplace, high ceilings, comfortable armchairs and often live piano music. Some cocktails are prepared with a mysterious spray. That's all we can tell you! For cigar aficionados, there's also a comfortable lounge where you can smoke a good cigar from Cuba or the Dominican Republic.
The hotel is located in the heart of Basel's historic center and offers a splendid view of the Rhine. The city has a lot to offer: a beautiful pedestrianized old town around the market square, more than 40 museums and a very pleasant cosmopolitan atmosphere: France and Germany are only a few minutes away by streetcar. The city hall (Rathaus Basel) with its deep red walls is not to be missed.
